Regarding the 'Cecil' costume - you have to ponder whether the dreadful absence of taste and humour demonstrated by the person who designed it, is eclipsed by the dreadful absence of the same from anyone who would actually buy it, and the wear it in public.

Even if you thought it funny...exactly how long would you be amused by it?
Children would quite rightly dismiss costumes such as these as rubbish and not at all suitable for Halloween.

These are aimed at adults with no imagination.
Oh sorry, I didn't realise that the "Cecil" costume link had been posted. Well I'm sorry to say that I smiled ..... gets coat .......

Now...I saw that costume yesterday and to be honest it made me smile...not because I found it funny per se, but I find it funny that each year someone tries to top last year's most tasteless costume.

Furthermore, in terms of tastelessness...the Cecil costume is a non-starter compared to:

Talbot - "If I saw someone wearing the lion costume, baz...I wouldn't be offended.

I would however look at them and think... What a ***, ***, ***, simpleton, *** for brains moron. (I wonder what parts will get by the sweary filter)"

None, it seems! LOL!

I have to echo your sentiments though - hopefully I won't be seeing any where I live - might have to make my feelings known!

A interesting point.

But even if people are keen on 'topping' the last , most tasteless costume, it's one thing to do as we have, which is look at the image and form an opinion on it, and share it on here - but it's entirely another to fork out money, order it, put it on, and then go out in public wearing it! That takes a different level of thick-skin I could only dream of!

Absolutely - not sure anyone could out-do that one!!
Yep, Andy,....pretty much an ace thread-killer, your last post. The pic's been removed now, but I did get chance to see it,....and even I didn't laugh at that one :/

Question Author
I hope it's not a thread-killer - although apart from agchristie who advised that she could see her son wearing the costume, I am surprised at the lack of the usual "It's just a laugh ..." posts that usually come along when this type of debate commences.

Maybe we all see this the same way.
...I can't see anywhere on here where ag said that....?

...although tbh, I could imagine my son wearing it also,...even I was astonished at the speed of his pics appearing when Cilla died....:/
Yes,JJ, that is funny :D

Aah, andy,...I'm confused now you've stopped using the //. I realise now that you were quoting from sp's post.....oddly, your link to the photos doesn';t work, but sp's still does.
Yep,....that costume is just a step too far........
"transphobic" What The Funicular?

People need to get a lif and stop being offended at every little thing.

No, I wouldnt wear it - I dont like fancy dress but why should I dictate to someone else.

And for those that are offended, where does it stop? After all i'm offended by you being offended. Should you be banned?

youngmafbog - "No, I wouldnt wear it - I dont like fancy dress but why should I dictate to someone else."

I have not mentioned dictating to anyone.

"And for those that are offended, where does it stop? After all i'm offended by you being offended. Should you be banned?"

I have not mentioned any banning either.
aaah, I see now...Andy, it wasn't agchristie who mentioned her son might wear it, it was Retrochic.

I don't find any of it offensive, just laughably sort on imagination - a class of 8 year olds would come up with better ideas for new and original Halloween Costumes.

Bathsheba - "aaah, I see now...Andy, it wasn't agchristie who mentioned her son might wear it, it was Retrochic."

You're right - my apologies to both for the mix-up.
Young....it's not being offended......it's simply being a little puzzled at the mentality of someone who would wear this.....

I love dressing up..... for the fun and the imagination needed to come up with a stunning and appropriate costume......not donning something that makes you look a complete and dim plonker.....

Andy, I know you are going to find this hard to believe but there are more people in the world than you.

My comments were aimed at all those offended. If the cap fits of course...

Indeed - because they would be missing the attention-seeking need to be seen as 'edgy' and 'out there' that is a pre-requisite of the mind-set needed to buy and wear something like this.
