Kettling is very unpleasant to be caught up in.

Yes...AOG has forgotten that little quip from a couple of days ago.
I'm astounded.
And AOG - believe me, if I were to break my New Year's Resolution, I would have said something really quite nasty. As it is, I was merely being charming and witty.
Now...can you please explain why you comment about black neighbours playing rap music and hosting loud barbecues is not casual racism, but my reference to beige, Gracie Fields and tea is casual ageism?
I believe you can't - because it's obvious that the sauce which is so tasty on the goose takes on a bitter tone when applied to the gander.
C'mon admit it - you've been shown up.
It happens to me occasionally, and I have to hold my hand up to it.
Go on...admit your hypocrisy, and I will admit that I can't spell 'hypocrisy' without resorting to my spellchecker.

I'm happy to admit that I'm using Gracie Field, tea and the colour beige as a cultural stereotype to summarise the elderly - because I know it to be untrue (indeed - Madonna is now old enough to get cheap insurance from Saga and I'm sure that she doesn't fall into any accepted stereotypes of the elderly).
Let's see if AOG is man enough to refute his previous silly racial stereotypes.
Wanna take a wager?

AOG - " was not referring to the playing of loud rap music and barbecues, I was stating that it is a fact, that I wouldn't want a black family moving in next door to me."
To me, your post read as though you believed that black families do, as a rule, indulge in this specific anti-social behaviour.
If you are happy to confirm that this is not what you meant, then of course I accept it.
But that obviously leads on to a supplementary question - why would you not like a black family living next door to you?

/// To me, your post read as though you believed that black families do, as a rule, indulge in this specific anti-social behaviour. ///
And have you any particular proof that some don't?"
No, I don't have proof, but I don't have proof that white families do not, as a rule indulge in anti-social behaviour.
Nor do I have proof that man walked on the moon.
Some things can be taken as read - without the need for proof, and I am sure you know that.
So, if we start from an understanding that some - not all - families, both black and white, can and do indulge in anti-social behaviour of the sort you have indicated - can you address the question of why you would not want a black family moving in next door to you - as you have advised.

dave - "Another orgy of thieving, drug dealing, rape, stabbings. No wonder they don't want anyone filming it."
What year(s) did you attend?
Did you witness any or all of the above?//
Maybe Dave 50 cannot answer with any authority on that but I certainly can. From 1969 to 1977 I attended every carnival on duty. My Posted police station was Paddington Green right next door. I was at the biggest carnage fest in the very hot summer of 1976 when it really kicked off with murders, stabbings and muggings. The station yard at Notting Hill was a mountain of stolen/recovered purses and wallets etc for losers to retrieve for weeks later minus their cash and cards.
So some who think they know it all and try to discredit him I can confirm dave 50 is quite correct.

I think it is you who is clutching at straws there!

Bit of a volte-face there, andy old chap, wouldn't you say?

I don't think so - two different points, argued differently, as they usually are.

Once again both yourself and sp1814 are trying to read more into this than there really is.
My not wishing to live next to a black family, is not about the colour of a person's skin or even race in the manner that you are trying portray it.
It is all about culture, and the built in natural instinct to integrate with one's own. Just as the Black communities do, the Asian communities do, and the Polish communities do, the Jewish communities do etc etc.

I assure you, I am not trying to portray it any way at all, I have been waiting for a response - and now I have one.

Looks like I don't need to 'portray it' - as you put it - you seem to be doing an excellent job of that on your own.

Yes, and if any of them came on here and advised that they did not want a white British family moving next to them, that would be racist as well.
Your premise is built on a cultural stereotype which you appear to assume derives from ethnicity.
If Mr Kodogo moves in - he is probably going to have loud rap music playing, and noisy barbecues - as you have yourself advised in previous posts.
But what if Mr Kodogo is a brain surgeon with a wife who is an accountant, and he went to Oxford, and his children are in private school, and he likes to play Beethoven very quietly of an evening, and have champagne receptions on his terrace in the warm weather?
What price your 'cultural differences' then?
