JC, what a great Leader of the Opposition he's going to be!
I agree with Corbyn.......Bin Laden should have been captured and put on trial, just like any other criminal and terrorist. He was assassinated instead.

And, also like Corbyn, I am a total opponent of Al Qaeda and all it stands for.
I bin laden had been put on trial innocent people would have been taken hostage as a bargaining point for his release and more innocent people would have died. Killing him was the only option.
If you were facing the business end of an AK47 in subdued light I think you would of squeezed a few off from your M16 Mr Hero. That is not assassination. That is self preservation!!!
yes the F.O.J. were all very sad.
I agree with jomifl and add, he was buried at sea, a wise move to prevent the appearance of a martyr's shrine.
I agree as well, he should have been tried in court. That way we would have found out a lot about the background to the situation. Just going in and shooting him only strengthened Al Qaeda's position. It was done just to satisfy public opinion in the USA.
You can't argue about his statement on Muammar though can you?

and EDDIEs comment is as naive..if hed have been taken prisoner , the west would have been held to ransom one way or another...
What a joke the lefties are. If Bin Laden had been arrested and brought to trial there would be howls of protest from the loony F.O.J. from day 1.
The U.S. would want to use a military trial for this terrorist and not a civil court. The laws of evidence and proceedings are totally at odds with each other.
Any evidence submitted by the Prosecution would probably be claimed to have been taken under duress by the left( Waterboarding ?)

I believe loads of computer hard drives were recovered during the raid which was more than enough Intel to keep the CIA et al very happy.
Better Bin Laden be allowed to do one useful thing in his filthy lifetime.Provide food to an endangered species.
Bazwillrun...your comments at 12:01 were entirely uncalled for. To use such offensive language about Diane Abbott and name calling about me is entirely unacceptable.

"We understand that debates get heated, but personal attacks and abusive language will not be tolerated"

Quite clearly you have transgressed the rules of this site, and I have reported it as such.
Mikey...seriously...be grown up.
It is Bin Laden that was the tragedy.

Yes he should have been brought to trial, we are supposed to be holding the higher moral ground, but one can't always expect things to go perfectly. As it happens the result is probably about as good as one can reasonably have expected.

That said I didn't spot anything in the article that Jeremy said that should be particularly controversial. He confirms his opposition to the death penalty, and that the law should be followed. Both common enough viewpoints. Or is the suggestion by the article writer that law should always be ignored ?

///Bin Laden Death A Trdgedy?///

Yes I believe it was, it was over far too quickly!
Ummmm....I take it that using the tern git is ok then ? Is that what you are saying ?

We either uphold the rules of this site or we don't. What side are you on ?
Well you insist on calling fellow ABers 'Trolls' mikey

Do you think that is right?

To keep on referring to fellow ABers as Trolls is ok then is it?

Morning Bill!
Mikey
I do not wish to get involved in this spat but if it helps. The term "git" was used by one Andy-Hughes against AOG a few days ago. For a moderator to use this term I can only believe that the man who lives by the book must believe, himself, that it is acceptable.
After all as a moderator he should be a shining example to us all I would of thought. :-)
