He was rather unprofessional.

She is being ridiculous.
C'mon AOG..the bloke in the youtube vid deserved that.

/// you do understand that the clip is not from a documentary AOG? ///

Documentary, Stage play, TV programme, Film, it matters not, this is merely an example of one sided views on physical abuse.
Lucky he didn't mention her briefs.
Aog, the man getting kneed in the balls is Ike Turner, the lady doing the kneeing is Tina Turner. Ike beat and raped Tina.

//I happened to catch a glimpse of a scene in some TV soap last night, in which a woman knees a man in the crotch, this example of physical assault would not be allowed if the rolls (sic)were to be reversed. //

You're right to a point, men tend not to knee a woman in the groin ,more likely have their hands round her neck, leaving only her knees for retaliation.
(speaking from experience)

A poor example in the comedy cut you posted and a huge step away from commenting on a photograph.
Folk have the right to find offensive whatever their mind tells them is so. But one has to question the mental state of someone who receives a compliment and then rants a load of obvious nonsense about sexism; even if they didn't wish to be complimented on their appearance on linkedin.

IMO a valid consideration as to whether you employ or hire someone might be, "Would I feel I was 'stepping on eggshells' each time I communicated with this person, thus making me feel awkward and possibly less able to concentrate on my work ?" If the answer is' "Yes", then check out the CV (or whatever) of the next candidate.
If what I have read is correct he said the picture was stunning not necessarily that Ms Proudman was stunning....so....if the photographer was male ..Alex can get rid of the sexist label by publicly complimenting the skills of the photographer.

If she believes he should think twice about messaging women half his age is she being....ageist.....☺......(is being ageist P INC?....I get lost these days)
Who, in their right minds, would now employ such a grievance collector.
I actually agree with her but does anyone else find her reply a little 'ageist'
andy during my working life, if somebody had made comments about my looks in the work place, I would have found it both embarrassing and inappropriate.
AOG - "Strange how these 'non-news' stories have an awful habit of cropping up in most National Newspapers."

Just because it is non-news does not mean that a number of papers won't print it - it is, as advised, filler.
If it's in the news it's news - and therefore a topic for discussion in 'News'.

I was unaware of that fact, in that case I selected the wrong youtube clip, since there were other ones I could have chosen.

Thank you naomi.
You're welcome.
Svejk - "Who, in their right minds, would now employ such a grievance collector."

Wow, what a FABULOUS expression - I believe you should be carried shoulder-high from the room.

I have already memorised that for future use.
wonder what her reaction would have been if hed of called her an fugly biaaatch ?
baz, any personal comment in the workplace is inappropriate.
woofgang - "baz, any personal comment in the workplace is inappropriate."

I think it very much depends on the overall atmosphere in the office involved, and the dynamics of the people there.

The offices I have worked in have been full of strong characters with a very high level of biting sarcasm, which is given and received with gusto on a daily basis.

If the atmosphere is more formal, then such behaviour would hit a very sour note - it is all about time and place.

On reflection, I think the post that started our discussion was ill-advised, but I also think it was taken out of context and the reaction was out of proportion to the potential offence caused.
