What do we all think about this ?

I will say straight away, that I am in favour of changing the existing law, as long as it monitored properly. A close relative of mine died 18 years ago in a lot of pain.

Surely we should be able to assist someone to shuffle off this mortal coil with a bit more dignity ?

I totally agree, it is dreadful how some suffer, I know I would end my life rather than suffer, with or without the law on my side. It just needs to be well regulated as it is at Digitas in Switzerland.

Maybe if he won the lottery it may give him more reason to live, however he is solvent and no longer has the need to work. either way, if he wants to die today, why not?

I would like a valid reason why he should not be allowed this option, bearing in mind he has very little in the way of family.

\\\\\I would like a valid reason why he should not be allowed this option, bearing in mind he has very little in the way of family.\\\\

Because RATTER, at the moment it is against the Law and it would be murder. I can't think of a more valid reason.
Sqad, I know that but this thread is about the existing law being changed to permit it!
Ratter......after all the arguments and debates, the "right to die Bill" has been rejected.
only for now Sqad.
Sqad, Correct, that does not mean that the subject cannot be debated and it does not answer the question of whether it should be permitted.

The OP is.... What do we all think about this ?
Mmm, interesting. We can't even get to the end of the thread without people demanding the 'right to die' regardless of health.
So much for all the checks and balances that people were insisting would remain.
RATTER.......as you might have guessed, debating is not my forte.

My idea, gleaned from the past is that a motion is debated for and against and then a vote is taken and in my opinion, all the points for and against have been debated.

It is one of my criticisms of AB that opinions for and against are not accepted without repetitious posts resulting in posts of over 100 particularly when certain posters are involved.

I think that we have reached that point in this and other threads.
Sqad, //It is one of my criticisms of AB that opinions for and against are not accepted without repetitious posts resulting in posts of over 100 particularly when certain posters are involved// that what debating is all about!

We don't have to accept any one else's idea and just stop debating, however, we are all free to opt out of a debate at any time, especially if you dont think it is going the way you would like it to. ;-)

Surely you can see that people are asking to have the right to end their own lives, not agitating for the right to end someone else's?
yes
