This is an invasion. We need troops at the border armed to the teeth.

If the French stuck to international law they should just transport all the migrants who arrive at Calais straight to Dover. That is our border, there is a special agreement between the UK and France to have the border at the tunnel entrance in France. The French can cancel the agreement at any time and just ship them all to the next border (in this case Dover) as other countries in the EU are doing. There is a lot of support by French politicians for doing exactly that.
If we did ever shut the channel tunnel the border would immediately revert to Dover and the French would have no option but to ship them all to the border as the other EU countries do!

Encouraging and facilitating what in normal times would be illegal immigratiion but has been rebranded by Euro grandstanders as 'a good thing' must be seen as 'an EU project'.
Countries trying to outdo each other in how welcoming they are has backfired almost immediately with citizens (apart from the usual suspects) wondering exactly what their leaders are playing at, encouraging undocumented hordes to invade their lands.
This is what happens when politicians play to the gallery instead of doing what they're paid for.

No wrong, they have no duty to ship them forward to another border, but what they do have a duty to do, and that is to ship them back from whence they came.

Zacs, the £100 million 'profit' goes some way to paying back the massive loans incurred when the regulators moved the goalposts and changed the safety standards of the tunnel and the trains halfway through the process of building the system. This culminate in about a year's delay to the project and threw the financial projections out of the window resulting in a vitually unsupportable debt burden. So, what appears to be a huge profit is not anything like it.
AOG the border WILL revert to Dover if the channel tunnel is closed.
The French will have no power to stop anyone from getting to the UK border, once they are there it would be up to us to decide what to do with them.
No EU country is sending migrants back 'home' they are all taking the easier option of shipping them onwards. What they 'have a duty to do' and what they actually do are rarely going to be the same.

Retrochic, we ARE still an Island. Having a rail tunnel link to Europe does not change that.
If we had a land border with Europe it would be 1,000s of migrants a day getting in not the few (probably >>200) that get in now. Germany gets over 2000 a day 800,000 a year! France gets at least 1,000 a day!
