In this case the security guards were only doing their job, why did this person need to make such a fuss.

Oh yes, and how many would? some can't even bother to wheel the shopping trolleys back where they are stored.

But it appears she managed to get a £10 voucher out of it along with press coverage, the only saving grace is that the security guards also happened to be black, else it could have been even more serious.

I may add, if for whatever reason I have forgotten my bags I am more than happy to pay for a carrier of some sort.

I don't understand how it can be difficult to always have a carrier bag folded up in a pocket whenever you go out.

I know I always do (as well as my shoppers i I know im actually heading to the shops), but then I am maybe unusual in the fact my pockets are usually bulging with bags and poo bags anyway.

I have on occasion been out and about with no intention of shopping, then seen a new store or yummy deli and popped in - it's called 'passing trade'.

Most of my handbags have fold up shoppers in them, just the odd small smart one is not large enough which is why I don't mind paying.

Yes I remember those very strong brown paper bags, but didn't the string handles hurt your hand when the bag was full with your shopping?

Interesting to note however that they were not a walking advertisement for the venue where one shopped.

The Americans don't seem to have plastic bags but rather long paper bags in which to carry their shopping.

I called the "walking advert" concept "semi-bogus" on page 3 of this thread, in case you missed it.

Also, this short film seems to have been shot in the USA, so I reckon they do use them over there, in addition to paper ones.
