Unless and or until we are destroyed by the eussr we are a nation still, so thats why we have a flag, to be nationlistic...as much as most of the lefties seem to hate that.
and its because of it we pulled together as a nation and won the 2nd world war that gives these traitors their freedom and so called free speech etc etc

The story originates from an American rightwing news site http:// www.bre itbart. com/lon don/
It is extremely badly written report between the Express and Brietbart. Who exactly said the flag was nasty? Or is this something that the UKIP lady alledges was said, but she is not naming which Councillor/Councillors uttered it?
As you do not appear to be posing a question, I will answer the general point on which the UKIP lady appears to be in error...
School should be about learning knowledge which will be useful to you in life or in your future career. School should not be about promoting any religion. It should not be about promoting nationalism. It should not even be about promoting Britain. If there are any particular traits that parents want to instill in their children other than what is on the cirriculum, then they should do that at home in their own time. It is not up to the school to make the children follow Allah, or to make the children patriotic.

The MEP has a history of making false allegations...
Jane Collins the UKIP MEP is currently being sued for slander and libel by Rotherham's 3 Labour MPs. At the UKIP party conference she said all 3 Rotherham MPs had known children were being abused but they did nothing against it. The MPs strenuously deny the allegation and issued their writ in January. A trial date had not yet be set.

Bit of a dumb story:
Some Tory councillor wants some schoolchildren to behave like their North Korean or Russian counterparts, to which a LibDem response has been, not unreasonably, "people don't need to wave a flag and sing to show pride in their country".
Which is perfectly true.
Cue some unattributed comments about a "nasty" flag, with UKIP weighing in, and the obligatory picture of Jeremy Corbyn "refusing" to sing the National Anthem a few weeks ago.
Goebbels would be proud.
And, as a final cherry on the cake, AOG reads it, by which stage there are rumours of wild-eyed bearded lefties tearing down our lovely flag to replace it with pictures of Lenin :-) (Well, I sort of made the last bit up, but just going with the flow :-)

And ichkeria, has the bare face cheek to criticise the way I may have read it?

He must have also made that up as well.
Wow! what a vivid imagination this ABer must have.

Because, lurid though the article is, there is no mention of tearing down union flags or hoisting the "red flag".
I'm just as against stopping people from flying the union flag as you are, I suspect, but this seems to more be a case of a political argument about appropriate, extra, ways, of showing "patriotism". Hanging a lot of flags up everywhere is one thing: I love a good flag myself and enjoy all the Rugby World Cup flag stuff and national anthems, etc, but it isn't necessarily a good idea to think that a general outburst of flag display and national anthem singing is going to make us all better people.
There might have been an interesting discussion about that in the Express instead of them turning it into a rant against their usual demons (I realise I am in cloud cucko land expecting such a thing)
