When I was a young hellraiser cop I was transferred to the punishment nick(Harrow Road) from Paddington Green. Caught drinking on duty by the Duty Officer on night duty.
The BBC did a serial called "Police Harrow Road" where Ester Ranntzen presented the series on TV. The DI was nobbing her but that is by the by.
I was night duty gaoler when they filmed an episode and I was filmed at about 0600hrs near to shift change leading the drunks out the cells to the prison van waiting to take them to Marylebone Magistrates court.
We were all invited to attend the Odeon Marble Arch where a private screeening was shown of all episodes before it went on TV. The Commissioner of Met Police was in attendance. When the shot of me leading the drunks out the nick, through the back yard and into the waiting prison van there were howls from my colleagues,"Which drunk is leading who"? The commissioner sat stony faced and I wondered how long my short career would last. :-)

// "Freemen-on-the-land" are a loose group of individuals believing in a conspiracy theory that they are bound by statute laws only if they consent to those laws. They believe that they can therefore declare themselves independent of the government and the rule of law, holding that the only "true" law is their own interpretation of "common law". Freemen are mainly active in the United States and in other English-speaking countries: Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. //
Strange that one would think that would help. But maybe he knew it wouldn't but wished to explain anyway. We are all bound by our own moral code rather than laws, but where there is disagreement the individual has little power against the State, and so must appreciate there are likely consequences to non-compliance.
