In South Sudan there have been 6 ceasefires and a Peace agreement, but the peace keeps breaking down. The Peace Keepers will be tasks with keeping the two ethnic groups apron fighting each other.
Peace keepers are not sent to peaceful areas, they are sent to enforce treaties that will breakdown unless an outside force can police the agreement.
South Sudan is the newest member of the United Nations, having gained independence in 2011. But soon a power struggle broke out between the two leaders who represented the dtwo different ethnic groups in South Sudan. The 300 British Peace Keeps are part of our role as a major player in the United Nations. Something which helps use keep our munched prized veto at the UN Security Council.
