Chill out Naomi, don't you ever get a little mischievous at times, I haven't committed a cardinal sin, except to get a hook in some top lips, but not to worry I empty my keep net when I sign off.
Were you deliberately trying to get posters to attack you?
Surely that's something you abhor?
The problem with this thread is that the casual observer might not clock that you were quoting from another source and will assume that the question is yours.
I think you should take that on board the next time someone makes an assumption as to your intentions.
Be as mischievous as you want, but always remember that people have fractured memories. What might be taken from this is something you don't want.
AOG; I'm sorry to have to break this to you, but your great, great, g,g,g,............ granddad was an African! and you've got lot's of French relatives too! The first traces of modern humans are now dated as far back as 90,000 years ago in the African continent. In Europe, where they first appear about 35,000 years ago, they are known as Cro-Magnon from the place in Dordogne, France, where remains of them were first discovered.
My original question was "Is This Cartoon Racist"?
Now one can debate on whether it is or whether it isn't, but somehow this thread has turned on the way that I chose to extract my remark on.
But to get back to your comment "And it still suggests Racism imo"
Can you please explain why "(Tom Jones wants to get his DNA tested, just to be 100-percent certain that he doesn’t have any black in him)"?
Suggests racism to you?
Is it the words "just to be 100 per cent certain that he doesn't have any black blood in him"?
If so, place yourself in his position wouldn't you want to be 100% certain, it is not saying that he will be extremely disappointed if he has, or even if he hasn't.
If it is the words "Black Blood" that is upsetting you, then Gromit has already put us straight on that point.
It doesn't really matter that the quote was someone elses.
You first passed it off as your own. You know the covention of putting // for quotes from others, and you didn't use it.
And you didn't notice it was an incorrect representation of Jones' words (or you did, but were happy to misrepresent him).
/// I don't understand why you didn't clarify that your quote was from another source. ///
Why do I alone always have to explain where I took my quote from?
It would make a change if some just answered the question set instead of always trying to be so pedantic.
I don't see why I should point this out but here goes, after I had seen the cartoon, which was the main reason for my thread.
I googled 'Tom Jones' and the latest post to come up was the Jezebel one, so I entered the words in that report, just to give my thread some content.
Then I thought that some might want a more in depth report, so being careful not to pick a Daily Mail one (knowing the sensitivity of some on here) I chose the Telegraph.
Then before I clicked Submit button, I read through my thread, and when I re-read the Jezebel words, I thought oh dear there are going to be some on here that will focus on them, but not wanting to reconstruct my thread for the sake of the over sensitive, I said "What the Hell" to myself and pressed Submit.
See how hard work it is to try and satisfy the over sensitive ABers on this site?
