Brown managed to have 4 surplus years (when we actually balanced the books and spent less than we earned). During the previous 18 years of Thatcherism, the books balanced just 2 times. that good work was undone by the corrupt bankers had to be bailed out and we needed to borrow hundreds of £ billions to save them.
Osborne was elected on reducing our borrowing in 2010, but instead doubled the national debt.
