Cameron Has two jobs, one as Prime Minister, and one as a constituency MP. Inevitably, sometimes the two will conflict as in this case. He as the power as Prime Minister to really solve the police stations closing, but he won't.
So we see him act out a farce of pretending to do something about it, when he knows nothing will come of it.

I am sure Cameron is aware that the cuts he is instigating will impact on his own constituency. And he must also know that one iniated, there is nothing as a constituency MP he can do about it. But he has to be seen to be trying for the sake of votes in 5 years time.

It's not hypicrisy, it is belligerence.

I agree Gromit...its a ruddy farce. His local Council is Tory-run as well, which makes the situation even worse. Will his local electorate remember this farce in May 2020 though ?
It is a very dangerous experiment to cut the police so savagely. It could have consequences that we dare not imagine. We will have to see how this pans out over the next five years.

It isn't just the Police though Gromit.

Only a few days ago, there was a damning report about the Inland Revenue, and its complete inability to answer the phones when people call up for advice and help. So what does this Government do ? They plan to shut IR Offices all over Britain and make 1000's of staff redundant !

The Tories always boasted that they were the party of law and order...now let them explain how closing Police stations up and down the country and cutting 10,000's of Police Officers is going to make Britain a safer place.
Again, with the HMRC closures they are setting up a possibility of unintended consequences. The move is intended to save money. But any savings in staff will be lost by the loss or late payment of revenue. it will cost more in lost receipts than it will save.
