/// They will be given housing, legal protection, access to employment, education and expert medical care as part of the vulnerable persons resettlement scheme (VPR). After five years they can apply to remain in the UK. ///
They should be so lucky, some of our own sleep on the streets, no automatic legal protection for us, lack of jobs, already crowded schools, and an overstretched NHS. As well as an increase in the threat of terrorism
But never mind all that, at least some will still say "doesn't it make one feel proud"?

Why isn't there a special package for our troops when they come back needing special help such as this?

"so can someone explain,in Scotland we have a housing shortage thousands waiting for a house,"
There's an even bigger housing shortage in Syria (see video above)
The point has been made before, but the Paris attackers, for example, were all French or Belgian. Admittedly one of them seems to have smuggled themselves back with refugees, but that is a failing of border control and security services not speaking to each other

"We didn't we stood and fought. "
There is no comparison between the war in Britain in the 1940s and what is happening in Syria. In any case, in Britain in the 1940s people DID flee, quite justifiably and rightly, when the bombs fell: children were sent to the countryside, and during air raids people in towns had air raid shelters.
AND, we had a government that was on our side!
And stop watching Putin TV :-)

And you would know that would you, were you around during the 1940s? (No, I thought not).

'SOME', children were sent to the countryside, but even then, they still remained in 'THEIR' country.

A sheltering of corrugated iron, or even a brick building with a slab of concrete for a roof, not to say "a government that was on our side", wasn't a guarantee of complete safety.

It may have been said but I have never understood it.
They were children of immigrants born and bred in France/Belgium, two fantastic countries and yet they import evil carnage. What possible reason could they have for that?
Now please explain to me ichkeria how saying they were French or Belgian is somehow better than if they were say a recent Syrian immigrant?

Possibly because it would give comfort that the issue was already with them rather than due to some foolishness of allowing a deteriorating situation from recent decisions. In fact whether recent arrivals were involved or "merely" replacements doesn't really change much in the longer term. What's done is done.
