So as the terrorists need to reload then why do people run and hide so have the least loss of life? Surely if people were taught to attack as opposed to run they would be able to take out the gunmen first with out causing too much loss.
Lets say in the paris attack in the musica place. The terrorists had an AK47 with a standard 30 rounds with an average of 5 rounds per life taken you could escape with 6 deaths in there per person pending if they wore suicide vests or not.
Yes its easy to go hide and wait I mean its instinct but if we went against instinct we could reduce the deaths potentially.
What do you think on this advice given?

American advice ( no ref ) is attack or die ! You see usually when you are being mugged or robbed - you give up your wallet and co operated and the mugger co-operated by letting you go - This is a social interaction governed by rules everyone knows For a terrorist attack the idea is to kill [us] - cowering will not work - nor even shouning la adrabni, ana Brittanee (...

For a terrorist attack the idea is to kill [us] - cowering will not work - nor even shouning la adrabni, ana Brittanee ( dont shoot I'm British ) - so as the marine said on the train - I heard the cocking of the kalashnikov and thought - do I want to die cowering in my seat or standing and struggling?
I expect the crowd of supposed victims to start lynching various armed terrorists to be honest - what happens if someone runs around with a wooden replica as "a joke" ? ......

The further away you are from a gunman the less chance there is of being shot and the less chance of being fatally wounded if you are hit by a bullet. The faster you can get away the fewer bullets can hit you and the more chance there is of putting something solid between yourself and the gunman. I don't think there is much of an argument for doing anything else. Leave mad gunmen to the professionals...the guys with flak jackets and ...guns.

erm true with small arms - hence it would work in the good old days of the IRA ( low velocity and becomes very inaccurate very quickly as your run away ) Nancy Reagan's teentsy jewelled saturday night special was only accurate where she had it - in her bedside drawer
but high velocity hullets need only "wing" you
( and I cant remember what a kalshinikov is )

The IRA had American M16s in their arsenal. That comes as no surprise considering the amount of Kennedys in the USA. They fired a .223/556mm round which tumbles. Good for 300 yds accuracy. I have one converted to single shot straight pull. You get hit by a tumbling high velocity .223 round you will just as likely die of trauma shock if it hit you in a normally non fatal area(elbow)
The IRA got hold of a .5 inch Barret sniper rifle long before the British Army possessed them Range in excess of a mile. IRA took out a RHA gunner at a road block (fatally) in excess of a mile range.
You tell us the IRA had low velocity harmless weapons. Dream on. :-)

What a cracking piece of kit that Barrett Light Fifty was//
Always attend the annual Phoenix and Trafalgar arms shoot at Bisley. There is a British company always there that will sell you a Barret with scope, bipods etc in .5 inch calibre.Trouble is,because of the range it achieves there are only 3 ranges in the UK you can shoot them and they are military ranges not available to civilians. To be fair they do the Barret in.308 Winchester and .30

I can quite understand what you are saying. Like a stab in the back.
Still.. As I offered to you earlier. We are not military and we don't talk shop.We enjoy our sport and have a load of banter. We are old gits who get their few pleasures from enjoying a good bang. You are always welcome to join us.

March is the first shoot of the year. Our secretary likes shooting in sunnier drier climes. I shoot my best in stair rod rain,up to my neck in mud and misted optics.Got a 2nd place medal this year at Bisley in the PSUK National championship. 2x 15 rnds at 500yds. F Class.
Apparently a kind sympathetic Canadian gentleman realised that older gentlemen who once used Iron Tandem sights on a service rifle with a two point webbing sling might encounter difficulties in their dotage. i,e eyesight and shaky limbs. He persuaded the British NRA to adopt the F class shooting discipline with optics and a bipod to assist us.We shoot at short range. 100yds-600yds. Will remind you nearer the time if you would like to join us.Good relaxing day if not noisy. Ammo and ear defenders can be provided buck shee.
