So as the terrorists need to reload then why do people run and hide so have the least loss of life? Surely if people were taught to attack as opposed to run they would be able to take out the gunmen first with out causing too much loss.

Lets say in the paris attack in the musica place. The terrorists had an AK47 with a standard 30 rounds with an average of 5 rounds per life taken you could escape with 6 deaths in there per person pending if they wore suicide vests or not.

Yes its easy to go hide and wait I mean its instinct but if we went against instinct we could reduce the deaths potentially.

American advice ( no ref ) is attack or die ! You see usually when you are being mugged or robbed - you give up your wallet and co operated and the mugger co-operated by letting you go - This is a social interaction governed by rules everyone knows For a terrorist attack the idea is to kill [us] - cowering will not work - nor even shouning la adrabni, ana Brittanee (...

You have my interest, now I have no other pressures, could be good.
I think you may get hooked. They are a cracking bunch of mates.I grew up with the secretary who I knew from the age of 5yrs.We are now 65yrs old.
we joined the ATC together at 14yrs and were fortunate in having a keen RAF (VRT) W.O. who took us full bore every month at Rainham,Purfleet or Bisley and every week at RAF Uxbridge or Stanmore for .22 small bore shooting. We haven't looked back. It really is as much a sociable day out as a fun shoot. Very laid back but obviously range safety is adhered to. :-)

Year ahead of me mate.
Bisley's about 85 miles from me so not a problem, lot of M-Way and Dual Carriageway 'bout an hour on a good day!
About my running time also. Will give you the next confirmed date for the start of our seasons first shoot (March) in the New year (Late January should get our annual rota decided and circulated)

Ok, look forward to it, could be good.

Apologies to ukanon for sorta hijacking your thread, it happens.
ATC, Kersley, Coventry. Spent a week at RAF St Athens in Wales in 1956. Great stuff: went up in a Chipmunk over the Bristol Channel. Nice stone beaches there:)
In fact I still have my ATC logbook. Reason for leaving: "Emigrating to Canada." And I got the pilot of the airplane, a modified, obviously, DC3 to sign the logbook when we landed in Toronto. He notated "Good flight".

ukanonymous - //andy-hughes I thought you were better than that comment but hey everyone fails sometimes. //

I fail to see why to think I have 'failed' with my post.

If you are of the opinion that a mass attack is a viable option in a terrorist attack, then by all means, go for it, and I and others will stand foursquare behind you while you do it - that is an entirely serious response.

Well, actually no, it is a serious as the notion that anyone actually in that situation, as opposed to debating it in front of a screen as we all are - would be willing to lead the attack and get shot first.

It's an admirable notion, that victims of terrorist attack should take the initiative - only problem is, the initial initiative takers are the ones who will die and I doubt too many will be up for the role.
