Some years ago, there was a flow of correspondence - in The Times I think - about the pros and cons of Morris dancing. One pro letter pointed out the benefits...good exercise, encourages the development of hand/eye co-ordination and so forth. The next day, a con letter appeared listing exactly the same 'benefits' and suggesting they were the very ideal of the skills required for masturbation. That, the writer claimed, was why he called those involved "a wunch of bankers"!
I don't really see the point. There are more important things that the English are denied that the other countries have, presumably because their citizens are more important. But if they want one let them have one.
if GSTQ is a dirge (it shouldn't be if they'd only play it at proper waltz speed) Jerusalem is twice as bad. And the lyrics are even more religious than the current anthem. Does anyone really want to build Jerusalem here?
There'll Always be an England needs reworked lyrics, but I think it'd be much better.
