Retrochic, I don't have anything to add to most of the above.
As far as I'm aware, she hasn't actually harmed anyone, (arguably her own son perhaps, though many parents do that). I think hearing the full details of her story would be beneficial to society in general, and possibly prevent further young women from following in her footsteps.
Incarcerating her for 6 years will achieve nothing, and for the simple-minded probably make her into some kind of martyr.
How about fully educating herself through closely monitored sessions rather than letting her anywhere near those who may travel?

Khandro .... what a ridiculous statement, 'she hasn't actually harmed anyone' , 'incarcerating her for 6 years will achieve nothing' .... so then, by your reasoning anyone who hasn't actually harmed anyone shouldn't be in jail, bank robbers, burglars, con artists etc etc, what about the hate preacher Anjem Choudary and others like him, he hasn't actually harmed anyone but if convicted you think that he should not be jailed? Choudary is currently awaiting trial for allegedly inviting support of a proscribed organisation, namely the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, again, if found guilty should he not face a spell behind bars, he actually hasn't harmed anyone!!
Maybe not in the physical sense but the dangerous ideology and spread of hate (regretted or not) can do more widespread damage to vulnerable minds.

Many people and some on here have commented, that imprisoning the likes of Shakil is not the answer. Who knows how this individual will respond...
SP45; If you want to discuss the case of Choudary, (of whom much has been said on these threads) I'm happy to do so, but he is not the subject here, neither is say 'Jihadi John' of whom I would have much to say and be of a very different opinion.
This woman made, by her own admission, a terrible mistake, realised that what she had been told was untrue and unlike many less fortunate managed to escape.
Rather than locking her away, I think that she would be able to do more good, and prevent others from falling into this trap by being given some sort of community work while explaining the reality of the so-called Islamic state to other potential victims.

Khandro, once again we have an instance of the culprit being described as 'bright'. The IS propaganda machine must have incredible powers of persuasion.
