no jackdaw, not close, but I am not surprised you do not recognize the person in my avatar.
So, if we're supposed to be selective about the eligibility of any given 'swarm' to become part of 'us', who gets to participate in the 'vote'? I daresay the lace-makers in Devon or wherever would have barred the Huguenots as would the English aristocracy have barred the Norman lords if they could and yadda, yadda, yadda.
Most anthropologists accept that humanity originated in eastern Africa. Should that first 'bunch' have just stayed there? The history of humanity ever since has been one of constant migration, sometimes en masse, according to prevailing conditions in already-settled areas. The conditions obviously vary...climate, warfare or whatever...but invariably they involve a situation in which life has become untenable. The current mass migration is no exception.
Ancient immigration bears no resemblance to current immigration. It’s an ill-considered comparison.
It's a nonsense to try and claim we are all the same. Over the centuries each have developed quite different cultures (and I'm not saying one is betrter than the other). Much of this is around religion which is now the big problem when trying to mix these cultures.

Like it or not, humans are primarily tribal - and that, often combined with religion, is what causes war. Something we are probably hurtling towards.
mikey, //Nothing very "ancient" about the Okies is there Naomi ? //

I have no idea what you're talking about.
