The USA is where it is today precisely because of waves of immigration, starting out from Europe. Unless an American can trace his ancestors back to Native Americans, he will find that he is the by -product of immigration.
America is a vast country and the main reason for the spread of settlers across the nation is mainly due to Manifest Destiny :::

So it is somewhat ironic that people today, the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc etc of previous waves of immigration are now complaining about immigration !

The same is true here, of course.
These Romans comin' over 'ere...these Angles comin' over 'ere...these Jutes comin' over 'ere...these Saxons comin' over 'ere...these Vikings comin' over 'ere...these Normans comin' over 'ere...these Huguenots comin' over 'ere... these Ugandan Asians comin' over 'ere...these Syrians comin' over 'ere...
All of these invasions, swarms, bunches have made us who we are, just as with America!

That’s because they don’t want to see what they’ve built over the years destroyed, and who can blame them? Some immigrants are not beneficial to the well-being of a modern, western society. Quite the opposite.

The swarms and bunches currently heading for our shores – and those of the US – are not the swarms and bunches of the past. These people didn’t make us – and they didn’t make America!

Unless you can trace your ancestry back to Africa 60000BC you are all immigrants and have no right to want to define your country's borders and control what's in it. The world is a free-for-all and everyone entitled to come and go as they please, causing chaos and destruction as they wish. Just common sense.
"These people didn’t make us."
So, just who the heck did and who the heck are 'us', if not the descendants of ALL the peoples who arrived on these shores and settled?
There must have been a 'First Foot' on what is now British soil- sounds like a prehistoric Hogmanay tradition - so are only his/her descendants to be considered the making of us?
As Old Geezer wrote at 07.30 any such concept is an absurdity. To mimic the Tories, "We are all in this together" from wherever our ancestors came.

Quizmonster, //So, just who the heck did and who the heck are 'us', if not the descendants of ALL the peoples who arrived on these shores and settled?//
Not the people of whom you said //All of these invasions, swarms, bunches have made us who we are//
//"We are all in this together" from wherever our ancestors came.//
Currently, yes. We can only hope for the future.
