As time goes on, I am having more and more respect for dave. In fact, I am going to capitalise him from today onward !
This will, of course, cause merriment amongst the lesser of our resident right-wingers here on AB !
But don't worry...I am still a committed Labour supporter, and Old Labour at that, but credit to Dave here...he is trying his best. He is being Statemens-like, as our PM should be.

Total failure to sell us on the benefits of staying in. We want to know who is scratching whose back to the extent that out it bad.
Basically, any moan we have about our taxes subsidising inefficient farmers or building nice smooth roads "over there" (where some of us (e.g. me) *never go* (nor plan to) should be equally applied to any British business which is, in fact, being propped up by EU grants (subsidies by any other name).
If you sincerely believe Call me Dave to be a shill for business-persons, bankers or corporations then keep that in mind when he argues that in is best.
As for keeping our 'influence' by staying in, picture yourself and 27 pals trying to decide which restaurant/club to go to next. Can you expect your voice, by itself, to have any sway over *all* of the rest of the group?
We have ~73 MEPs out of 751. The group can always force our hand. We have lost sovereignty when it comes to the region-wide laws which are supposedly so important for "unity".
If we stay in the Parliament may as well be dissolved as its relevance to cost ratio is just getting sillier by the year. Dave is campaigning himself into irrelevance, if you ask me. A directorship and 7-figure salary awaits him, for his troubles.

// Yes, being Statemens-like is quite a unique achievement. Most big hitters aim to be Statesman //
well erm not unique
at skool we were always pointed to Churchill ( statesman ) but that WAS during the wilson era - my god he wanted to be a statesman.
My father nearly popped a blood vessel when he ( HW) said goodbye and good luck to the england football team ( well they did win )

Oh he's good at talking. Debates well. He's still wrong and having to support a bunch of inadequate concessions in order not to confess failure: and go on about how awful the world outside of the EU us and you don't want to go there. One would hope for more boldness in a country's leader. rather than relying on an ability to fend questions off.
Every single piece of progresss on the planet comes from someone taking a 'leap in the dark' as Dave puts it.
If people didn't take a 'leap in the dark' we would still be believing that the earth is flat!
A 'leap in the dark' infers that the country doesn't know what it is leaping into, or more accurately, out of.
Dave's major problem is - the country does know, which is why it's taking its run-up as I type this.

If he'd returned home with UK ownership of Calais and control of its border then the out vote's motivations would be largely settled, no?
If I read AB right, it's not about trade, nor policing, defence, safety legislation, farm subsidies, fishing quotas or anything of that ilk; it's only about shutting the gate?
