Its such a idiotic situation any half decent comedian could have extracted the urine from it. Once we start allocating awards by racial groupings rather than talent or skill the awards have no value.

But it is not just any racial grouping, it is always about black issues, and that is the problem.

When are they ever going to get over the fact that their skin happens to be black, one never hardly hears any other ethnic group complaining, by that I don't include a certain religious group.

It's a structural problem. Any scriptwriter runs the risk of creating stereotyped characters of ethnicities other than their own. The only cure is years of people-watching or mixing socially. But you hear sad tales from the USA like "white people have to avoid entering such-and-such neighbourhood". Then again, look what happened to Trayvon, when he took a short-cut through a gated community.

Hollywood has only just got around to writing 'generic characters', freeing the casting director to pick any colour they like.

The other aspect is typified by phrases like "it is/was Leonardo's turn", as if to say that the Acadamy has been trying to get him an Oscar for years. They could "move on" a lot more rapidly just by issuing awards to half a dozen male and female leads *where there is sufficient merit*. Simply drop the superlative, "best" and call it the award for "oustanding actor/actress".

The absolute worst aspect of this year is the thought that with a nominee gift pack in the 6-figure price range, they think twice and thrice about exactly who they want to dish these out to and, if they think some hard-up black (or other ethnicity) actor shouldn't be spoiled, in that manner, since it is maybe their hunger for pay which extracts the knockout performance or that they are not the right face to fit with the designer-label goodies then that would be real sickness at work.
