Problem is that it is also all-too-transparently short-term at best. The failure of more typical politics doesn't help matters but that doesn't mean people should be turning to the "answers" Trump is offering. And it surely falls on everyone else to at least try and point that out.
I cannot think of anything more pointless than trying to compare Donald Trump and Ronald Reagan. Different eras, different types of people, different everything. I doubt one can take much Trump says seriously.
He's either a hopeless bigot who really believes all the nonsense he spouts, or a shallow chancer who'll say anything to get himself noticed.
Either way, it doesn't seem like a very attractive proposition.

The US elected Hopalong so it is not inconceivable that they could elect 'The Apprentice' star. We do not get a vote, so it is beyond our ability to do anything about it.
Though it is my observation that the people most concerned about Trump becoming the Republic nomination are not the Deomocrats, but the Republican Party's higher echelons. Perhaps they are frightened that the public will tell them 'You're Fired!'.
