The answer to the OP is logically 'yes'.
In this case the perpetrator adopted a high risk strategy but with good cctv footage hopefully he will be picked up soon.
That said, this was a shocking and distressing incident. You would most certainly expect an accompanied child to be safe in a situation such as this.
I see plenty of young kids out and about at all hours and to keep perspective they return home safely. Parents have varying attitudes to these matters, you just hope the less strict do not pay for their complacency.

No, I don't think that.
What I *do* think is that a few ABers cherry-pick articles, from many different publications, that chime with their particular beliefs and place them on this forum to invite others to agree that if only we hadn't got black/brown people in this country the crime-rates for sexual assault, etc. would plummet to almost negligible levels.

Not the fairest summary, JTH.
The proposition is that Muslims (not Asians or non-whites) from certain countries are more likely to commit sexual offences than other groups. This is a factual assertion. It may be true; it may be false. What do you think? Is there ANY evidence to support the proposition? NONE AT ALL? Or is there too little data to justify conclusions either way?

This thread asks, are children safe anywhere - the simple answer is that once out of sight they aren't and of course they should be. Which is why I said I hope that this man who is alleged to have molested this child is caught very quickly.
I am 62 and friends of mine were assaulted/molested as children , not many I grant you but they were.
So to conclude, we have a story 'Man alleged to have molested girl in a bakers shop'.

divebuddy - Yes, it would.
Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not oblivious to the fact that there have been some dreadful sexual assaults carried out by Muslim men in this country. However, I don't personally, view every single Muslim as a sexual predator, nor do I believe that every sexual predator is Muslim.
