Well that would be a declaration *to the world* that the democratic rights of 60 million of its citizens can disregarded, or messed around with, with delay tactics. Own goal, surely?


On the other hand, there are ~300 million Americans and the views of half of them must be being over-ridden at any given time. Maybe the best analogy would be the occasional attempts of Texas to secede from their Union?

We accepted Turkey into NATO in 1952 and they have been our ally ever since. Following your logic, should we leave NATO because Turkey is a member?
