No one is saying the level of criminality is the same, we are saying the crime is the say. Of course more abuse took place in Rochdale. But the criminal act of grooming was the same in either case which is why Johnson is going to prison for a long time.

The old set text on this ( sentencing ) used to be DA Thomas Principles of Sentencing 1973 but there must be better and more modern texts now

AOG sought to highlight the possible disparity between sentences of two cases which *he* thought bore comparison.

Admittedly, and not unusually, another ABer introduced something he thought pertinent and that has become the focus of this thread rather than the original question.

You can compare crimes without comparing the severity of that crime.

Johnson and the Asian Taxi Drivers are both groomers. One crime is worse than the other, but the crime is the same. And so should the puishment. It appears inconsistent to not treat the two acts of criminality exactly the same. And it seems that some are blaming the victim in one case but not in the other.
