The word 'equality' isn't quite right here.
If the blokes were being served halal lobster Thermidor (if that's a thing) whilst the women were only had scraps from the kitchen, then it would be totally unacceptable.
I'm sure you support equality for Jewish people - but they have exactly the same set up in synogogues.

I used to go to business events with my late husband and, while there was no dividing screen, it was quite common for the hosts to arrange things so that the women all sat at one end of the table and the men sat at the other....no religious connotation, it was just the way most people liked it. DH and I didn’t so we either ignored the segregation or didn’t go.

/// Is that you having yet another little dig at me? ///
Not just you personally, so don't be so touchy.
You know perfectly well that anyone who only assumes the traditional marriage is between a man and a woman, is lampooned as living in the past.
So why are you not lampooning these Muslims, are they not also living in the past?

It's amazing how far some of you will go to defend such practices when they happen to be carried out by Muslims.
Yet if our own were to carry the same thing out, they would be classed as bigoted sexists.
hc4361 even went to the trouble of criticising traditional golf clubs, old boys' clubs, gentlemen's clubs and even the Freemasons.

No, I don't know that perfectly well......and don't believe I have ever seen it written here, either.
Are you hoping to move this thread away from your OP because it is not going quite the way you hoped/intended?

The point is - both Muslim and Jews have traditions of separating men and women. Perhaps you can assist us by explaining the difference in the way that the women in the link are being treated unequally?
Are they forced to sit at the back, or are they seated alongside the men, separated by a curtain?
Can you identify specifically where I have attacked Jews? Is pointing out the similarity in religious and/or social observance an attack?
How does that work?
Also, there is absolutely no need to respond to jackthehat in the way that you did at 12:47. She gave a reasonable response, and you then took at personal dig at her.

No. That's not quite right.
Everyone assumes the traditional marriage is between a man and a woman.
That's the whole point of the word 'traditional'. Everyone agrees that a traditional marriage is between a man and a woman.
What you are mistaking is the difference between what is traditional for Muslims and Jews (the separation of males and females at the same event) and what we used to see in golf clubs and some men's clubs - the outright banning of women.
Can you see the difference?
Seems patently obvious to me, and I suspect - others.
I'm not sure why you're so ignorant of these practices. I went to a Jewish ceremony at a synogogue a few years ago and was surprised to see the congregation separated. I had it explained to me back then. I thought it was weird, but my mate said it was the only time of the week he got any peace.

/// Yes, I did. Before criticising the traditions and practices of others, look to your own culture, AOG. //
As I have previously explained to sp1814, this thread is not about my own cultural traditions, it is about this particular news story.
So if you wish to criticise the imperfections of certain Western cultural traditions, then I further suggest that you enter a thread regarding that matter, yourself.
