Do you understand my point that everyone thinks of traditional marriage as being one between a man and a woman? Literally no-one could possibly argue against that, as up until last year, traditional marriages were between a man and a woman.

3. Please, for the sake of clarity, identify which particular chip you have identified on my should today, because I've looked through my responses and can't work out what you're referring to.

Just because you are not a member of a particular society or in this case a particular Muslim society, surely doesn't prevent you from voicing an opinion on the fact that this group choose to segregate their women, while at the same time not treating them as equal human beings.

By failing to do so, I can only assume that in this debate you side with the perpetrators of this middle aged tradition?

As has already been pointed out, the men were also segregated at this function. Both genders had exactly the same experience of food, facilities, comfort etc

In this instance the women were not treated unequally (unless you have more details ) - the running of the evening was known to those buying tickets.

I wouldn't care to attend such an event as I prefer mixed company so would not have paid for a ticket , those ladies attending did.

I am defending no one, as I do believe I have already stated.

Are there things in society that need changing ? Most definitely.

The news section is essentially a debating forum. If you put something forward then people who do not share that view will disagree with YOU.
The fact that you have borderline extremists views, means that you get an above average number of people opposing you.
As the majority of your posts are intended to annoy other users than ask a genuine question (your OP is a prime example), then you should not be surprised, or hurt, or indignant when people post different views to your own.

That's what I thought too.

When I clicked on the link initially, I was expecting the women to be sat at the back with all the good tables taken by men at the front, but the dividing curtain is down the middle.

I honestly think that this isn't the best story to demonstrate inequality suffered by Muslim women. But I'm sure AOG will explain his thinking soon.

The UK have many men only clubs and many cases where the sexes are not treated equally by their own culture as mentioned several times on this thread.

My thread was not just about these particular women, it was simply to further the proof that women in the Muslim world are classed as unequal to men.

Maybe not in order, but as long as the blacks and whites enjoyed the same facilities in the club, then they are being treated equally, and not breaking the law. But I doubt they would get any customers if any club tried to do that.

No one is arguing that women are treated equal in Islam. But having a segregated audience is NOT proof of that. The audience is being treated equally treated, and no one is doing anything wrong.
