Well, this is at the heart of the very idea of democracy. Permanence, in public office, leads inexorably to staff "wising up" and creaming off every penny they feel undervalued by or think they can get away with.

That's why we have to power to give them the boot, every four years.

Anyone who hates the rich really ought to praise corruption: if we can't get taxes out of the truggers, at least we can be sure they feel the hurt, like we do, before they get their way.
