… is to be sold at auction. George Zimmerman, who shot the boy, says he is selling the gun partly to raise funds to fight "Hillary Clinton's anti-firearm rhetoric", and describes the weapon on the auction site as ‘An American Icon’.

Is it just me who finds this sick?

Vile !
More poor taste than sick. But there are collectors of just about everything.
words fail me, that's utterly disgusting
Gross.

retrocop, I'm guessing he deems it an 'Icon' because it was used to shoot the boy.

If that is what he deems iconic, then America must be overloaded with icon guns.
Everything about USA 'Gun Culture' make me sick, but this sinks to new depths.

The USA and their guns were welcomed by Europe and UK in 1942.!!
What a pointless answer^^ WW2 has nothing whatsoever to do with the current USA gun culture.
You appear to be happy to tar every gun owning American with same brush though!!
Americans have always owned guns since you watched cowboys. They become used more because of the increasing 'crime' culture and the statutes that permit a citizen to defend themselves if they are victims. The justice system decides that outcome and POTUS can't do anything about changing their constitution!!
The US servicemen who came over here in 1942 were here to fight a war. They had their service issue guns that they had been trained to use. They did not walk around the streets of the UK carrying weapons.
When I say 'gun culture' I am talking about the US citizens who regard gun ownership as a religion. I am talking about events like the 4 year old who shot his mother dead last week after finding her loaded gun under the bed.
Sick, twisted, belongs in an evidence bag.

It was in an evidence bag.Still can't understand why it was released back to the owner.
I imagine, Retro, that since the individual was "cleared" over the death, the gun was no longer considered as evidence; therefore, it was returned to the owner.

I appreciate what you are saying. I am afraid I make the mistake of remembering what happens in the UK when a police officer lawfully slays a perp in the course of his duty.He has the devil's own job to get back on Firearms team after suspension pending enquiries. If he possesses a private Firearms cert (most do) it is revoked and his firearms are confiscated.
Same applied to a colleague of mine who was going through an acrimonious divorce.Firearms were taken from his house.!!
Naomi....it isn't just you, and no, you are not sick.

Can you imagine the guns used by Hamilton in Dunblane even being allowed to be sold at auction over here ?

Only in America, etc, etc.
I bet naomi is overjoyed at that news, mikey.
