"Of course it is! " - ok fair enough, I misunderstood, I apologise for my retaliatory comment.
Every once in a while, someone on AB writes a series of post which reaffirms my faith in people.

It's happened on this thread.

Respect.
andy-hughes, Care in the Community isn’t just a buzz-phrase. It was a scheme launched in, I think, in 1993. The object was to save money by treating people, with all sorts of conditions, in the community rather than in hospital. The elderly were predominately affected, as were those with mental health issues. No government has ever abandoned or attempted to rectify that dreadfully flawed scheme – and so it continues. The result is, and has for years, been nothing short of neglect. People simply do not get the treatment that is really appropriate to their needs, or that their condition warrants. It’s shameful.
Poor, poor Mrs Lock.

It says in the article you link to

"The judge, Mr Justice Singh adjourned the case for sentencing on 8 July."

convicted of manslaughter not murder sevenop
From the OP:
what is going on with our judiciary? why do they get conned all the time?

TTT, you put yourself on the back foot instantly with those questions. The second point in particular is a complete non-starter.

A rational debate was never on the cards on that basis. I hope that if I suffer a complete breakdown and act out of character that it does not coincide with a request for you to do jury service!
//During the trial, jurors were told Daley's mother pleaded with mental health experts to have her son sectioned.//

Another complete and utter failure by the system - and once again the innocent suffer.

the victim was stabbed 39 times, I'd say he intended to kill him.
I have attended no end of multi-agency meetings in my previous line of work which has involved problem solving issues. These have included police, housing landlords, env health, social services, fire service and many more. Many of these meetings were frankly inane. Each agency has their own agenda and issues are always someone elses fault. Wrong! For effective partnership working, with the resources available and greater accountability, everyone has to pull together or we will get nowhere...
TTT, He is sick. His mother knew he shouldn’t have been out on the streets, but she was ignored.
I gave a link with all those details in on the first page, but to no avail.
How has he 'Got away with it' !!! Please explain.
The perpetrator has been convicted of manslaughter due to diminished responsibility. In this case severe mental illness. He will spend the rest of his life in a secure mental hospital hardly 'getting away with it'.
Nothing to do with the 'judiciary' there was no other verdict possible. They have NOT been 'conned'
In this case, if the Judge had not accepted the diminished responsibility defense and convicted him of murder , he would be out of prison within 15 years. As it is he will in all probability NEVER be released!
Again, Mr Bombastic magnificently fails to understands the nuances of life outside of 'Geezer-world'.

Thankfully, most of the other contributors on here appreciate that good mental health is a thing to be cherished and are aware that when society fails those who are most vulnerable terrible things can happen as a result.
