agchristie....lol, although don't get me onto that subject again !
Reading the wiki link, these salties seem to be a formidable creature. I am not sure I would be having any night-time dips within a 1000 miles of them !
to answer ummmm..."Should we all stay out of the sea in case we get attacked by a shark or bitten by a jelly fish? ", simple answer is yes! In the words of the great Billy Connolly, we don't belong there!
the MP said there were lots of signs around and the women "must have seen them". That doesn't mean they did, though. Personally, I wouldn't go swimming anywhere much in Australia after dark without checking everything, but Australians themselves may well be more blasé about it.

The woman who was taken came from country NSW ... But anyone who swims in north Qld has got to be nuts !!!
Ummm...there is a world of difference between taking a dip at Brighton, and doing the same in dangerous crocodile infested waters. She took a huge risk and now appears to have paid the price.
TBH it wouldn't be safe swimming off of Brighton at night in the dark either, there are currents and shifting sands and an inexperienced swimmer could soon get into trouble.
