Yes Douglas but we don't turn up in a rubber dinghy.
ummmm, perhaps it's because they know they'll be rescued that more attempt the crossing ... but it's not just boat people, is it? Muslims have been flooding into Europe for years; they've been making demands and have their demands granted for years; the authorities have continually turned a blind eye to their more unsavoury practices; and for fear of being branded 'racist' - the battle cry of the potty liberal left - no one in authority has ever attempted to say 'No'.
I am not sure why this thread has turned into one about why are we still 'letting these people in'. Often these terrorists turn out to have been brought up in France, Belgium, USA etc. I don't know how long this killer had been in France but he had been jailed in 2013 so did not get here as a current asylum seeker economic migrant.
I believe he was French born to Afghan parents.
fiction-factory, // I am not sure why this thread has turned into one about why are we still 'letting these people in'. //

Because I asked why the west want these people here. When they came or whether they were born here is irrelevant. The simple fact is Islam is incompatible with western values and western society.
We don't turn up in rubber dinghies because we know there are procedures and ways of doing things.
We don't push our children into the TV lights to try and trump our fellow travellers who only have aged parents as a bargaining tool.
If these 'refugees' are able to pay, allegedly, thousands of pounds to smugglers, why not try the Ryanair or Easyjet route? They could then apply for asylum at the border and take their turn.
Weight of numbers, wet or otherwise , is no way to run a system
okay Naomi. So think stopping any more coming would help (although how you identify 'them' isn't clear to me.) but given the large numbers already here with children, who will no doubt have more children, I assume you want to deport them all (which ones) somewhere (where?) as soon as possible.
fiction-factory, if they were all deported I wouldn't shed a tear. (Waits for the howls of protest!).
I suppose some of them could be accommodated round your gaff fiction-factory, you seem a welcoming sort.
Maybe get the council to stack modular units in the back garden if groundspace is an issue.
Many would agree with you. But to implement an idea you have to be able to be precise about which people and where to send them . I think you know that it is totally impractical to identify which 6 year olds for example are Muslims and find a country to accept them
That's nonsense douglas. Maybe you could round them up and send them back
fiction-factory, of course its impractical - we know that. Doesn't make their presence here and the problems they create any more welcome though.
So what do you suggest we do Naomi and would it help prevent tragedies like this?
If I had any power or authority maybe I could, otherwise I'd be condemned as a vigilante by the usual suspects.
fiction-factory, see my post at 08:06.
Yes I saw that.
But his man was born here and had lived here for over 40 years.

We don't even let known IS supporters out of the country, we stop them and try to educate them ... Laughable, we're bloody fools.
Question Author
You say that like it makes the actions of this man more excusable, ff. Can you expand on what you are saying?
fiction-factory //But his man was born here and had lived here for over 40 years.//

Yes, and he had claimed allegiance to Islamic State and been jailed in 2013 for "jihad links” so why was he roaming free? He should have been imprisoned for life – and I mean life - with no privileges whatsoever!
The thread is about a tragic murder by a French citizen. Naomi suggests we should stop more Muslims coming in (Into France? Maybe we should vote to Remain than we have a chance of influencing that- ha ha). Given the number of home grown terrorists I don't see how Naomi's idea is much of a solution to murders like this from home grown terrorists. It may or may not help in 20-40 years time though
