he won't resign if he loses the referendum, he might if it was Tory party policy to remain but it's a free vote. The party will allow him to stay until he decides to go.

True. I have never understood why the party at large preferred Cameron to David Davis.
Question Author
Jack,
Very similar to Corbyns election.
The Parliamentary Conservative Party wanted Davis. But the grassroots members voted for Cameron, mainly based on a very touchy feely presentation he made to a tent full of 'old dears'.
He was the outsider and won, as was Corbyn. Perhaps the members outside Westminster yearn for more honest, less career based politicians?
Anyone remember the Night of the Long Knives in 1962 when Macmillan sacked a third of his cabinet? Expect something similar when Boris takes over.
Question Author
Whatever the result of the referendum, the Conservative party on the 24th of June will resemble a nest of very angry wasps.
Someone is goung to get very badly stung.
You're not wrong there. Dave and George would be well advised to have their bottoms rubbed with loads of anti-histamine cream.
Question Author
Just assuming , hypothetically that Cameron wins, is Boris finished?
No, Boris is the future from a Tory point of view.
Question Author
That is really depressing for the rest of us.
I expect a night of the long knives if Cameron wins.

His (Camerons) days are numbered though, so are Georges. His behavior during the referendum has been utterly disgraceful and we now know his true colours.

Who will be next? No idea, perhaps some outsider yet to put their hat in ?

Johnson is already acting like he will be Prime Minister. Today he is announcing new laws to be introduced after the 23rd.

My money is still on Boris, although I am unsure of the time frame involved.

The only thing we do know for (fairly) sure, is that Dave won't be leading the Tory Party, or what is left of it, in May 2020.
Don't forget that it has already been announced that the referendum is not binding on the government so I doubt that it will cause any resignations.
Another name to consider maybe the M.P. for our constituency who is Mark Harper the current Chief Whip.
Question Author
Harper has a fairly appalling record. When he was immigration minister, the figure shot up. When he was at DWP he was responsible for the ATOS fiasco.
Boris Johnson for me.
Dave say's that he isn't going to stand down - even if he loses the EU referendum.

After today's appearance (I commented on another thread) the name of Theresa May has come into prominence in my mind. Not as divisive as Boris, to start with. I don't like or trust the woman.

Today she looked as if she'd employed Maggie's stylist, soft, bouffant hairdo; neat, navy suit; string of pearls; new (softer) make-up and voice at least 2 tones lower. She's also been very careful not to be strident on the 'Remain' side. Now a definite contender.
If we leave, and I hope we do, Cameron will be a spent force and step down. Gove will be pressured to take the crown and Boris will be deputy PM.May stays, Osborne out.
May is probably careful not to be at the front of the Remain group. Mind you, many thought she might have come out for Leave.
Perhaps she is as passionate as Corbyn is on the subject.
Please God its not George Osborne - there is "something about the night about him" that someone once said.
