Can't believe that fear, greed, and a xenophobia, that has NO place in the 21st century, has triumphed. I'm sorry England, but you need to hang your collective heads in utter shame. Roll on the next Scottish referendum.

@ FF previous page - I think Scotland want independence because they basically hate Westminster but know damned well they couldn't really go it alone so need the EU to both protect them and be someone else to blame.
Ummm....there has been a debate about Britain's membership of the EU for years and years, and this has accelerated over the few months. If people still can't decided one way or the other, perhaps its as well they don't vote.
@ mikey 4444 "At least we got rid of Farage yesterday !"
lets hope corbyn stays as labour leader so they have no chance of winning an election!

Delighted that all 32 local authorities in Scotland voted to remain in Europe - we're the only nation in the UK to vote in our entirety to stay within the EU. Scotland has spoken with one voice - we want our place to be in the EU. As Nicola Sturgeon has said every option, including another independence referendum, is on the table to protect Scotland's place within the EU.
I don't understand - how did we get rid of Farage yesterday?
Who makes the rules in your household Maggie? I live in the UK & the UK should live by the ones made in the H.P. not by unelected people.
Exactly, Mikey, it still doesn't mean they can't be bothered though.
Yes, I'm baffled by that too Prudie.
Thanks Prudie- I pretty much agree with that but can't really see a difference between the Westminster they hate and Brussels.

I agree with ummmm about some non-voters being unsure rather than not being bothered. I know many people who kept switching sides or were just unable to make such a complex decision and didn't want to vote randomly for something they might regret later. The tone of the debate was off-putting for many
Bernie....the Tory Party is seriously divided. That is now undeniable.

They only just slipped under the wire in May 2015. So I wouldn't be so sure that they will win another Election, before 2020, especially if Dave's humiliation is the cause of us having one. We live in strange times !
Maybe the reason they "slipped under the wire" is that they were offering this referendum? Just a thought ...
Prudie...see my post on another thread this morning, for an answer to your question at 09:58 !
Ellipsis...yes, you may be right there !
ff - I kept switching sides so decided not to vote.
mikey- do you not think Labour will be divided as well. The results in solid Labour areas, including in Wales, and the working class voters' clear worries about immigration must have shocked the party
I think the people of AB have had enough of Mikey's "expert analysis"...

Now strut about your bunker,
Your disenchanted grove.
Welcome to your paradise
Of Boris, Farage and Gove.

Now watch the rest of Europe
Falling apart again,
Landing in the smelly laps
Of Wilders and Le Pen.

Now inspect the damage,
Now survey the wreck,
Now pick up your shovel
And clear up your own dreck.

And now that Donald Trump
Is safely on his way,
Go clink a glass with him.
It's Independence Day!

Crap!
FF...( 10:05 )...over the issue of leaving or staying, no I don't. The vast majority of Labour MP's want to stay, unlike the Tories. And over 16 million people voted yesterday to stay. I respect the vote yesterday, but its hardly a huge victory for the Leavers is it ?
