This begs the question: should a potential PM be someone who can command a majority in parliament or one who can command a majority of his supporters without? The answer has traditionally been the former.
Thatcher had the same problem: she retained her personal popularity but her colleagues thought she'd become an electoral liability.
The Abbott woman? Not the one who represents the Labour party, but sends her children to private school?
There's only one natural leader of the Labour Party-Harriet Harman.

Will Corbyn take his lover with him also if he has the moral courage?
Grandpappy, you's havin' a Turkish!☺
Do you mean McDonnell or Abbott? Or both? Either way, they are clearly both sticking by him so will share his success or destruction.

When the supporters abstain and let the other lot in, having command of the fellow MPs in your party is a hollow victory.

Either they gets the support of both or they are not going to achieve.

1974 ? It was such a long time ago ....
but I recollect that Heath clung onto power for a week and then they threatened a motion of no confidence and he threw the towel in

hardly a quick death rather a drawn out one

They overwhelmingly elected Corbyn. If their choice is dismissed, they might be less inclined to work for the badtards wot did it.
I think the Tories might have had something to do with his election, selling votes @ £3 a pop.

How did you manage to get an emoji into your post at 17:24?
we never sold votes at £3 a pop JD, bought a few though! Well it's asking for trouble isn't it! Gawd help us, pay £3 and you can wreck our leadership contest, PMSL what's not to like!
Labour is finished. Doesn't matter what happens re the leader. Mikey had better hope and pray he doesn't get that early election he was clamouring for. They'll be wiped out even earlier.
