Not asking what [i] will happen...because that has not been agreed yet. But what do you think SHOULD happen?

I can't clearly remember a time before free movement, so I don't know what we did. Do you think we should implement a visa system? Say allow EU citizens to remain for a couple of years at a time?

And what do you think should happen to Europeans studying at uni etc?

nothing, they are here now they can stay. New applicants will have to go through the same process as non EU applicants do now.

Off the top of my head:

They should continue to live in the UK as their main residence country for as long as whatever their existing arrangement allows. If they "permanently" move elsewhere to a different country they may need to get the necessary paperwork should they ever want to return "permanently".

Since students would have paid their fees why should they leave before the end of the course ? Afterwards, for those who came over under free movement rules, it would be a good gesture to give them a period to see if they wish to stay "permanently" and find employment, or return to their home country.

Perhaps all British students should have free university tuition, and students from non UK countries should pay for there degree courses.......................... Just like English, Welsh, and N. Irish students have to in Scotland, whilst the rest of us fund the Scottish students and unbelievably students from all the other EU countries.

Nothing - unless they're not working to support themselves. In that case they should be sent home as should any other foreigner who is a burden on the state.

The homeless EU citizens and the jobless living in squalor 10/20 per house should be sent home as soon as permissible.


I have said before but nobody comes back with a reply ... surely it is a EU failing that people think it better to leave their own country to live in another in squalor or even under a bridge?

yes, there is no need for deliberate nastiness on either side, I'd like to think that the EU would allow expats citizenship if they want it and we should do the same for those already here.

Togo EU students in English Universities are regarded the same as UK students at present, they all pay the same fees.

The Strathclyde university graduation ceremony 2 days ago sounded like a Bejing phonebook when the graduates names were called. Wonder how much they paid the Scottish Uni compared to my BILs daughter?

Yes Eddie they do, as did my daughter for her medical degree. If you were to read my post again you might notice that I advocate that British Students should be afforded the same advantage that the Scottish Students enjoy in Scotland. That was the salient point. Or did you ignore it?

We should support the right to a family life and never stop someone leaving the UK in order to join their family (wanted criminals etc. excepted). That should be considered a basic human right.
