"We understand that debates get heated, but personal attacks and abusive language will not be tolerated"

Can we all calm down a bit please?

I've been written to several times about how abrasive and aggressive this section has become.

Several have pointed out that the language in particular has become childish and brutish, with name calling and hyperbole being especially annoying.

So let's calm down a bit. Let's stop calling people "traitors to britain" and "friends of jihad" or similarly rude things.

If you can't make your opinion felt without resorting to these personal attacks, then you'll likely be met with suspension, or banning.

All the best,

Ed

This Referendum issue is sort of like a math/maths class: It has created quite a division amongst you, and the gap is multiplying daily with the addition of acrimonious remarks which is really subtracting from the quality of the site.

Then perhaps you could give your logical reasoning as to why that comment was removed. I wasn't going to mention it originally but seeing as it was noticed and commented on then I thought I would back Naomi on what she said earlier. Nothing wrong in that. You are always leaping to the assistance of a certain ABer. So lets leave it then if you or others cannot explain what crime I committed.

Anyway I'm off now - I too think this thread should be removed now and probably will be tomorrow!
Was it your comment, in isolation, which was removed......or did the whole thread disappear?

If the thread is still there, perhaps you can provide a link so that the rest of us can see?

Aw, but it's been such fun.
JTH
It was my comment in isolation that was removed at the time. The rest remained including TTTs slang. Unless it has been mysteriously pulled since I will attempt to find it. I believe it was my only post on the entire thread.!!
It's a fact that many posters on this site come to the aid of 'mates' rather than the aid of the point being made.

Strangely the worst abuse I have had on this site was from Gromit. I didn't report it because I rarely report anything.

RETRO I couldn't work out how "cast" could rhyme with another word for bahoochie, but can't readily see why an explanation of slang should be removed if the original remains.
I think that there has been a growing impatience from the Editorial team with threads containing obscure (i.e. made up by the poster) Rhyming Slang. The poster responsible has done it specifically to annoy/irritate the other forum users....which is a definition of 'Trolling'; and all responsible and professional forums look badly on trolling.

Of course you care how this site goes.....you wouldn't complain quite so much if you didn't!

The slang did remain with the rest of the OP. It now appears the entire OP has suddenly been pulled to save embarrassment.
I will not pursue this any further and as stated earlier I said nothing at the time it happened but remained baffled still. I only reiterated what Naomi mentioned earlier to confirm the truth in her post.
Let the site move on wherever it is going.
bazwillrun, did I suggest jambutty had been previously banned or is that your fevered imagination running wild again?

why check on the name then... ?...no need to answer most on here know exactly why...

//you wouldn't complain quite so much if you didn't! //

Read my lips and my post. I have already said I was going to let it drop at the time. I only mentioned it to confirm Naomi's post. I had forgotten about it until today. Hardly a complaint at the time.
It was not a name I recognised so I wondered how long they had been a member, is that okay with you?
JTH,
You could well be right. When the subject of Rhyming Slang (RS) came up very early in this thread, Tora instantly penned a question in RS which was removed on the ABEds watch, presumably for trolling.

// If you cannot get of your plaster to canal personally then you don't care enough to have democracy. //

It is a good point ruined by the stupid language. He is obviously doing it to annoy people. The best thing to do in future is to ignore it. By complaining about it, or translating it, you are actually encouraging him to keep doing it.

//or translating it//
Right any more petty fogging Site Rules we can make up on the spot when it suits. Just for clarification because I need that site rule interpreted. I have read Site Rules enough and have never seen a translation being grounds for removal!! End Of.
The issue is 'Trolling' and I think your thread was possibly seen as aiding and abetting the trolling as per Gromit's post above.

Hopefully, the issue of nonsense-slang has been taken on board and no-one will have their posts removed for using, or translating, it.
Clearly the Ab Editor is fed up with folk being a complete Lord and has had enough.
JTH
Crikey this becomes more farcical. Aiding and abetting is the latest discovery on Site Rules. We will have awarding a best answer translated as aiding and abetting. After all that is a tacit approval for another's post yet some others may disagree. If it wasn't so sad it should be in the joke section.
retro - I was only endorsing Gromit's summation of the circumstances of the removal of your post.

But please feel free to carry on moaning about it...
