Nothing.

Not the blind, it's the dog:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unclean_animal

That page lists unclean animals across a number of religions.

I had no idea about some of those listed in the Bible.

Very entertaining reading.
Dogs are obviously not against their religion, but people from the Asian sub continent tend to dislike dogs because they spread diseases like rabies.

Usually, if you call a cab, you tell them you have a dog, and they send a suitable vehicle rather than a saloon. And a driver who accepts dogs.
It would be the same if you tried to get in a taxi with a dog, TTT
Many Muslims (like many other people of other religions or none) consider dogs dirty. In any case he broke the law and its a law that the UK Shariat support.

The article you link to makes it very clear why the driver refused to take the couple, TTT.

He has been sacked and the company has apologised.
Fair play to the taxi company but I'm prepared to bet 20p of my own money that a beanie hat and dark skin trump any physical impairment when it all shakes out with the council.
//Religious considerations
Guide dog and other assistance dog owners should not be refused access to taxis or minicabs on religious grounds:
Religious or cultural beliefs have often been cited as a reason for refusal to carry guide dogs and other assistance dogs by taxi. However, it should be noted that there is a legal requirement to accept the carriage of guide dogs and other assistance dogs and such beliefs are not a defence against non-compliance.
“However, this is a sensitive aspect of the access issue and tact should be used by all involved. The Muslim Shariat Council have clarified that Muslims should accept assistance dogs in their businesses.” (EHRC, 2013)
That position has also been confirmed by the Public Carriage Office (PCO) which is responsible for taxi and PHV licensing in London:
“Guidance from the Muslim Shariat Council in 2002 confirmed that trained assistance dogs may accompany disabled people in taxis and private hire vehicles managed or driven by Muslims. The Council’s guidance helps to clarify religious law and prevent any possible conflict with secular law.” (PCO Notice 01/06)
Advice for guide dog owners
Your responsibility Taxi and minicab drivers have been told how to identify guide and assistance dogs. //

This man has no place behind a licenced taxi badge and obviously has no intent to honour or obey the laws of this country. If it is a sensitive issue with regard to Muslims then they should be barred from plying for hire in this country if they will not integrate or conform.

I've tried that a few times FF.
Wrong, douglas. What he did is illegal and the council will take action.
Oooh! You have the second sight. Just in case though, I'll wait and see.
It's only 20p after all.
//and they send a suitable vehicle rather than a saloon//

what's a suitable vehicle? are we talking estate car here, where the dog has to travel in the rear? is it acceptable for someone to be separated from their assistance dog?
A 'london cab' or one of them people carrier things should do it.
Never had a problem in all the times I've called cabs when travelling with a friend with a Guide dog bar one occasion - a swift reminder of his legal requirements and he let us travel though never spoke a word.
Fair enough, it's not a problem around these parts, not yet anyway, but I see your evidence of how things go. I had thought that it must be a very rare situation.
I'm not paying out till the gavel falls on a conviction though.
Leicester Council has prosecuted drivers for this offence before.
I can't wait for my 20 peeee
Post dated cheque then.

I think it might not be so much an 'Islam thing' as a 'jerk cab driver' thing.

One of those religious types who do 'buffet faith'.
