watching this on the BBC News last night, seems the words he used in his apology really stuck in his throat.

do you suppose he meant it really sincerely, a la hughie green?

It is a no brainer that he regrets using the word 'friends' because it has come back to haunt him.
The meeting was at a time when the deaths of 1,500 Palestinians, many women and children, in Gaza, were fresh in their minds. Daily reports of the suffering were quite shocking, and it was against that backdrop that this fringe meeting was arranged in Parliament, and Corbyn used language that might be now considered over the top conciliatory.

Over high time that area of the world sorted out their issues. Both sides do not have glowing records on actions made. Support to one side inevitably leads to accusations of being anti the other. Unsure what'll break the deadlock and provide an acceptable compromise.

Maybe it was me, but I have been under the impression that the story was that Hamas came to the Houses of Parliament at the invite of Corbyn, and as they were introduced during the meeting as 'our friends'.
Now I realise Hamas never actually came. The Israeli Authorities forbid them from traveling. The introduction where he used the word 'friends' was not in Parliament, in was at a different event a few days previous.

After the 'friends' reference, the rest of Corbyn speech is pretty goog.

The reason he is going nowhere is because no one will challenge him to a leadership contest because they know the "party" supports Corbyn and he would win any leadership challenge.

The MPs supposed to represent the local members. The local members elected Corbyn by 60%, (second place 20%), yet the MP want to ignore that. There is a huge disconnect in Labour at the moment. The Blairite MPs should leave and set up their own party.
