Remember the refrain we heard ad nauseam after UKIP got four million votes, but that didn't result in much of the way of seats in the General Election.
Many on AB pointed out that the voices of these four million should be heard.
They had a point, although under our electoral system - nothing could be done.
This being the case, should we tell the 15 million who voted to remain in the EU to shush, in the same way we told the four million UKIP voters to like it or lump it?
I suppose it depends on what they are being asked to "shut up" about. Leave voters have to accept that, unless circumstances change drastically, the result on 23rd June is going to be honoured, and they have at least to "shut up" about trying to stop the UK from leaving the EU as a whole. Scottish people are welcome to not shut up about it if this leads to a further...
Anyway, LABOUR are now like a dead whale that has washed up on one of beaches....nobody seems to know quite what to do with it and while we continue to ponder that question, it is giving off an almighty stink.
Hope you don't mind me editing your own words mikey.
"Many on AB pointed out that the voices of these four million should be heard."
They were heard and in many constituencies were not the majority voice.
"They had a point"
Not one I can presently see.
"should we tell the 15 million who voted to remain in the EU to shush"
It would be a little rude, they ought to know that they should shush, by themselves. But feel free if you wish, should you think they are getting a bit much.
I think it's a valid point, O_G but to no greater extent than the opposition party has in parliament. It is allowed its voice but is largely impotent, in terms of power it can exert. All it can do is spend its five years playing the persuasion game on the minds of the viewing public and hope for the best at a subsequent election.
Why on earth should UKIP voters be eating sour grapes. UKIP achieved what they set out to do. The clue is in the 'I' of UKIP. I have never voted UKIP (yet) but they have your ex Labour heartlands in their pocket I suspect.
Retro....Hypo and I have both addressed the original thread. If UKIP want to move forward, than its little point in spreading their fire over hundreds of seats. They should stick to a few, as Hypo has suggested, and in that way they might have done better in May 2015. But Farage's ego-trip made that unlikely, and they paid the penalty....ended up with less seats that they started with !

Farage's 'ego trip' involved him setting out to get the UK to exit the EU.
Imagine any other politician setting out and ultimately achieving their objective?
Love him or hate him you've hot to give him 10 out of 10 for succeeding.
And as retro rightly says mikey, it must really grind your gears that the traditional Labour heartlands bled votes to UKIP on an (excuse the ironic pun) industrial scale.

//UKIP deserves no "special case" //
Who is now asking for it and certainly no sour grapes to be eaten by UKIP.
You will not acknowledge that UKIP had a mission 17 years ago and they succeeded. They won what , obviously, the majority voted for and that includes your former working class Labour supporters from your now defunct heartlands.
You have always been scared witless about Mr Farage and UKIP otherwise we wouldn't suffer your endless snipes over the years.
You have nothing to fear from them now because they have done what Labour couldn't and wouldn't.
Best you now concern yourself with the wake arrangements of your dead in the water party. :-)
