I don't see quite why there is this fuss over having an HIV test. I had one back in 2004 a bit after my Hip Replacement because I had to have plasma from a donor. (You give your own blood in 3 sessions a couple of weeks before your op. so you get back what is yours - but I needed more.) Not a fuss, no problem, no stigma or anything. Seems to be a bit of showmanship to me, trying to bull-up image and forge own direction. Nothing wrong with that.

Well I think that was what they said, it might have been full blood - it was a good while ago and my medical French wasn't of the best then - by latest hip (2014) I was really up to it and did not need transfusion. Anyway, I promise you that I had an HIV test; I got a certificate on my Carte Sanguine - have it in my handbag now to prove my bloodgroup etc. in case of accident. Maybe they do it differently over there? :)
