Racist slur?
Definition of fact: Event, item of information, or state of affairs existing, observed, or known to have happened, and which is confirmed or validated

perception meaning, definition, what is perception: a belief or opinion, often held by many people and based on how things seem:

You have no idea of what you are saying have you, andy?
Once again, I do not have a problem. Going now, feel free to carry on warbling.
Talbot - //You have no idea of what you are saying have you, andy? //

Your perception - inaccurate, but feel free to believe it if you wish.
You have given no explanation of how I have made a racist slur.

Talbot - //You have given no explanation of how I have made a racist slur. //

Apologies - your slur is not 'racist' in the strict sense of the word, since your point revolves around your perception of mikey's attitude to child abusers of a religious persuasion, rather than ethnicity.

Your view appears to be that mikey is willing to condemn 'white' abuseers, but not 'Muslim' abusers, which you appear to base on your perception of a collection of his posts.

My contention is that you cannot assume that lack of condemnation is equivalent to support, or that this is mikey's view, and therefore I think that to advance that notion is offensive, and a nasty unfounded slur on mikey's character.

As I have observed, mikey is more than capable of fighting his own corner, and will doubtless address the issue when he returns from work later today.
No wonder The Sun has dropped its association with Mr McKenzie's 'observations'! -

Kelvin MacKenzie questioned whether it was appropriate for a Muslim journalist to report on the Nice massacre

The press regulator has received more than 800 complaints about remarks Kelvin MacKenzie made in The Sun criticising a journalist for wearing a hijab while reporting the Nice attack.

The paper's former editor questioned whether Fatima Manji should have been allowed to appear on Channel 4 News.

The Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso) said it would assess the complaints.

Channel 4 News said the comments were "completely unacceptable".

Writing in his column on Monday, MacKenzie said he could "hardly believe my eyes" when Manji - who normally wears the traditional Muslim head scarf - appeared on the news bulletin.

She was co-presenting the programme from London while Jon Snow reported from Nice.

"Was it appropriate for her to be on camera when there had been yet another shocking slaughter by a Muslim?" he wrote.

"Was it done to stick one in the eye of the ordinary viewer who looks at the hijab as a sign of the slavery of Muslim women by a male-dominated and clearly violent religion?"

Eighty-four people were killed by French-Tunisian Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel when he drove a lorry through crowds gathered in Nice to celebrate Bastille Day.

"The comments published in The Sun by Mr MacKenzie are offensive, completely unacceptable, and arguably tantamount to inciting religious and even racial hatred," Channel 4 News said.

"It is wrong to suggest that a qualified journalist should be barred from reporting on a particular story or present on a specific day because of their faith.

"Fatima Manji is an award-winning journalist. We are proud that she is part of our team and will receive, as ever, our full support in the wake of his comments."

Ipso said the complaints it received related to accuracy, harassment and discrimination.

A spokesman for The Sun said it was making "no comment" on the issue.

As I told you earlier ... I haven't said that so why have you repeated it?
Out of a readership of approximately 5.5 million, 800 complaints. Right.

I seriously think you need to withdraw your remark about mikey4444 unless you can provide some evidence of your assertion.

The principle of a black news presenter being excluded from reporting on US police shootings is exactly the same as the principle of banning a Musiim presenter from reporting on terrorist outrages conducted by Muslims.

There is literally no difference.

Not quite right.

Your stats would have to reflect the number of people who actually read the article.

It's unlikely that every single Sun reader did.

What will happen now, is that as social media picks up on this (as what happened with Brand / Ross / Sachs), more people will complain to the PPC.
sp, there's an enormous difference, but I can't be bothered to go into it with you. Suffice to say this isn't about racism.
//The principle of a black news presenter being excluded from reporting on US police shootings is exactly the same as the principle of banning a Musiim presenter from reporting on terrorist outrages conducted by Muslims.//

What about a white news presenter reporting on "police shootings" of black suspects?

Oh gawd! This thread is in danger of becoming even sillier than it's become already. Lunch time for me.

I have merely objected to the personal abuse of an AB'er - as I would to any abuse of any AB'er.

Accusing someone of making a racist slur is an abuse of the ABer if it is untrue. You reported Talbot for a higher authority decision and then say Talbot did not make a 'racist' slur?? Sheeesh!

In the interests of accuracy, I was happy to point out that Talbot's slur was not technically 'racist' - but that is purely a matter of semantics. I am really not too concerned about the dictionary definition of the unpleasant comments made - more their content and intent - which is why I reported them.
Still no answer to my 10.55am question, ah well, off to the beach.
Pied Piper - //The hijab has no place in British culture. //

What about reggae music, Indian and Chinese takeaways, Asian doctors and nurses, Muslim surgeons .... do you really need me to go on?
