If you receive a call from this number - 07506 332726 - don't waste your time answering it.

An Asian-sounding gentleman advised me that he was aware that I have various debts to credit cards - quite how he knows this he did not advise.

He then told me that I had been selected by a charity which was willing to pay some or all - certainly a substantial amount - of my credit card debt off.

I queried if this charity was going to clear my debt free of charge, and he confirmed that it would.

I advised him that I was indeed born at night - but it wasn't last night!

And I hung up.

I wasted ninety seconds of my life - so you don't have to.

Might be an idea to post a copy in 'Spam and Scams' not everyone ventures into News.

Thanks Baldric - didn't even know there was such a section!

I have posted the same there.
"Not everyone ventures into News."

That's because of the pack-of-wolves mentality of some in there. They'll even follow you into other sections and make personal attacks. AB is losing valued members as a consequence of this style of behaviour.

Thanks for the heads up, Andy.

"AB is losing valued members as a consequence of this style of behaviour"

survival of the fittest...its natures way
So you think it's acceptable to hound someone in various sections of AB because they've had the temerity to disagree with you in the past, Baz?

Never answer a number that you do not have in contacts or know. These scumbags use random number dialling systems and love it when they get a reply. They then know that the number is live and in use and will pass it around.
thanks andy
yes I can imagine that those in debt may jump at it
but um wouldnt have very full bank accounts

Togo - because of my freelance journalism, I often receive genuine calls from unknown numbers, so I do answer all calls - but that doesn't mean they always end well!
Well that's him jolly well away with a flea in his ear.

That's a new one on me. I assume that once lured in, you would be asked to provide your credit card numbers and their associated PINs?

Interesting.
To be honest, I quite like getting spam calls. I have fun with them.

Last year, I got a call which started with, "Our records show that you were involved in an accident last year that wasn't your fault."

I answered, "Yes, that's right...I'm SO glad you called, as my insurance company hasn't been much help."

The caller asked me to explain what happened, so I said:

"
The caller asked me to explain what happened, so I said:

"Six months ago, I was driving up the M4 behind a load of circus trucks. There must've been an accident further up the road, because suddenly the truck in front of me braked sharply, and my car went straight into it, and my passenger flew through the windscreen and ended up with her head wedged up an elephant's bum.

She's still stuck. I need someone to go down there with a crow bar and a massive jar of Vaseline"

The caller then hung up.

Hardly!

It's a Q & A site - not planetary evolution!

Because someone does not wish to be insulted and chooses to absent themselves does not mean they are not 'the fittest' - and that notion simply piles on the negative attitude that has created the problem in the first place.
