If there were 20 people outside a Mosque wearing funny pig hats, I could understand it, but one man arrested, and a old lady warned because it offends Muslims, is too much!!

I thought the TV reporter was funny, and brave.

I think what isn’t mentioned in the article is his intention.....was he just wandering past wearing the hat or was he there to stir up trouble? Ah....he was there to stir up trouble....and I didn’t see an old lady.....the other pig hat wearer looked younger than me.

I don't think it is clever as it was almost certain that, to cause offence, must be the intention. I'm unsure it should be an arrestable issue though. Surely no one was asking anyone to eat it. I'll go look at the link now.

It's important to note that the man was not arrested for wearing a pig hat - he was arrested for refusing to take it off when advised it was a potential public order issue, and that was the offence.

Context is important here.

It may be that the issue of wearing pig hats has caused trouble in the past, and the police were nipping it in the bud.

Or it could be that the police were being a little heavy-handed.
