Why was this man killed and why were the Police kicking him when he was on the ground ?

Gromit....there is no evidence that I can find that he was armed at all, so it would seem to me that the Taser was used wrongly.

The kicking when he was on the ground, if true, will be harder to explain.

The TV reporter is at pains to say that they found no-one else to back up Ms Quinn's version of events.

Jack...yes its odd that no-one else saw the kicking incident, but it could be that no one else had the viewpoint that she did.

Someone does not have to be armed to be dangerous. If they were off their heads, then they could inflict harm or be threatening to the police and the deployment of the taser would be justified. Most people who are tasered do not have a weapon.

It is worth recalling the incident with the blind man who was tasered because the police mistook his white stick for a samuri sword.

No I didn't, I just thought that if mikey deemed it necessary to start an identical thread as mine, and then go on to quote certain happening, he should at least provide a link that reports those happening, rather than leave his readers to search for such a link, or even have them to refer to a link in another's posters thread.

The evidence that was given by Paula Quinn was included in my original thread above...ie at the top of the page. No "searching" was needed.

The taser can incapacitate someone 'from a distance'. Speculation about the whys and wherefores is redundant at this time until the full details of what happened are known.

There are facts which were known about Atkinson and were in the papers at the time; these are just being rehashed because of his death.

I think you and AOG are as bad as each other on this tragic death, mikey.
I didn't bother with AOG's thread because I could not fathom out his motive for starting the thread ... I didn't believe it was to voice concern over Atkinson's father. You on the other hand seem obsessed to convince everyone that the police gave him a good kicking. Why not wait and see?
