If that was a time when white men - and just men - had a say on what went on in the country, and the 'ethnics' knew their place, then yes, they'd love it to be like that.
But it's not, and they spend their lives in bilious hatred and fear and paranoia, and lord, it must be hard work to be that angry all day every day.

And I, for one, see it as rather refreshing that these Muslim women had the initial self-belief to apply to become police officers and the requisite skills to pass the course successfully.
After all, as SP has already said, it's a pretty demanding and thankless job...

Just-Jude - //'Women know your place, Muslim women you have no place'
That statement is usually made by Muslim men //
Have you ever heard that said by a Muslim man?
Have you ever actually heard a Muslim of any gender say anything about their faith and culture.
I freely admit that I know little about Islam, and am roundly pilloried by lofty 'experts' for daring to express a view, but at least it means I am not prone to crashingly clichéd statements that I cannot possibly sustain.

Islay - //Just jude - reading the posts on AB recently it is being uttered by Muslim hating men and women more and more.
These ladies should be applauded instead they are being derided by those that claim to know everything there is to know about Islam! //
A fair point well made.
I do wonder if any of the people who daily spout the most appallingly racist and sexist nonsense on here ever think about what they say, and what it says about them.
The level of vitriol and negativity that pervades any and all threads that involve Muslims is really quite debilitating - but it falls to others to provide some level of balance and humanity, and thankfully they are more than equal to the task.

Just-Jude - //andy-hughes, I know nothing about Islam either, but I have a feeling they don't like us. //
Based on what exactly?
Terrorism? That's not Muslims that Muslim fanatics - you and I both know, from our mutually limited knowledge, that they are not the same thing.
I manage to live my daily life unimpeded by any 'dislike' from any Muslims, and I suspect everyone else on here, including the haters, do exactly the same.
