I still find it bizarre that people are getting injured from IED's and it is not terrorism.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said authorities believe it was an "intentional act", but added there was no evidence it was terrorism-related.

The explosion comes hours after a pipe bomb blast in Seaside Park, New Jersey, shortly before thousands of runners took part in a 5km charity race.

Everyone knows that you can no longer blame certain factions of the community.
Perhaps the culprits are suffering from mental health issues.... just like others who have committed atrocities recently.
I am not sure exactly what the Mayor means, when he said that there is no evidence that this was a terrorist act. If it was intentional, what else could it be....the Mafia ?
I think he meant 'terrorist' as in ISIS or some other large scale organisation rather than an individual / small group. Semantics.
If that's^ what he meant it's very misleading. A terrorist is a terrorist.
That^ link says no more than the link in the OP.
Daft thing to say....what he was really saying that there was probably no Muslims involved, deftly forgetting all the mad Americans that have committed terrorist acts in the past, like Timothy McVeigh, and Ted Kaczynski.
//what he was really saying that there was probably no Muslims involved//

Why would he say that?
A terrorist is a terrorist, until they're a respected member of Northern Irish politics.
^ :o)
Let's wait and see but I feel that the majority of the public, particularly somewhere as sensitive as NY, may be prone to panic had the mayor said it was a terrorist attack. I'm not sure the broader meaning would be uppermost in the minds of Chelsea's residents had they hear that particular word.
Zacs-Master, // Let's wait and see //

If recent experience is anything to go by I'm not convinced we'll ever be told.
// Everyone knows that you can no longer blame certain factions of the community.//

yeah de arabs - like that andem choudry who has just gone down for supporting terrorism
or the Rochdale man who has gone down for butchering the Iman who healed people with Islamic prayers

yeah silent we are - on all of them

I fink it is a taboo word in America
Terrorism doesnt happen in the land of the Free - it is an American export like the support the american irish gave the IRA all those years ago
// If recent experience is anything to go by I'm not convinced we'll ever be told.//

hey look at that ! conspiracy theory raising its head only hours after the act! this surely has to be some sort of record
Peter Pedant, that's not a conspiracy theory - atrocities are being under-played.
Naomi, that's as maybe but you do get my point about the use of the word, don't you?
Zacs-Master, yes, I get your point but I can't imagine many people aren't thinking 'terror attack' regardless of what the mayor says.
Believing it is one thing, hearing the mayor of NY confirming it is another.
Sorry that should have been 'thinking it.....'
