Is It No Longer Safe For Our Children To Walk The Streets Alone?
64 Answers
In the first case the two men are described as 'white' and in the second case the five men are described as being 'non-English'
Before anyone jumps in with "it matters not what nationality these men are", I agree, but I just added that because in recent such cases the police have been reluctant to issue such valuable information, when asking the public for their help.

Why are some reluctant to admit that we have a growing problem?

Surely you have to take into account the population 50 years ago to that of today?
Simple logic says more people more crime ... have you done any research the prove your point, AOG?

I'm not sure that we are seeing a increase in these kind of cases. Brady and Hindley abducted children over 50 years ago, and I expect the same thing was said then.
Back in 1963, when they abducted Pauline Reade, all the parents in my primary school suddenly started taking and collecting their kids. Up until then, I had been making my way across North London on my own.
But it didn't last very long....kids were soon out playing in the streets, quite often out of sight of home. We had a particularly dreadful abduction and murder here in Wales quite recently, four years ago this Saturday. Again, kids were soon back to normal again within a few weeks.
I see very young kids playing out in my street, long after dark, all the time.
If I were a parent, I would be much more concerned about them getting run over, than being abducted.
I don't know what the answer to these very infrequent cases is....perhaps parents should be more careful.

Islay....I notice that AOG managed to get in a teeny, weeny little mention of race in his OP. I am not sure why that is important, when talking about small children being abducted on our streets.
If it can help catch abductors of children I don't care how people are described ... black, white, English, foreign, disabled, slightly camp, fat, or short ... just give out the best description possible.

//Officers are currently scouring all CCTV cameras in the area, speaking to the boy in detail and searching for the five men, described as being 'non-English'.//
Perhaps the boy wasn't a language expert and could only determine that they were not English. That narrows down the search somewhat.

Oh dear your racial raw nerve is showing once again.
Of course I mentioned that in the first case, the two men were described as white and in the second case they were described as dare I say it "Non English", because that is what was reported.
*** abduction comes three days after another teenager was sexually assaulted by two white men - just over a mile away. ***
*** In March, police issued an appeal for information following an attempted child abduction in Abingdon, some eight miles from the latest attack. ***
*** A man attempted to grab a 12-year-old girl as she walked to school, police said. ***
*** The suspect was described as a white man with a tan, in his 30, who was approximately 6ft tall and of large build. ***
Notice that you were easy with those facts, but then the other 5 men were described as "Non-English" and that raw nerve is exposed yet again.
/// Its just the usual, lazy English way of referring to all Brits as English. ///
Couldn't of course be that the abductors didn't speak in the English language?
And no it is not the "usual, lazy English way of referring to all Brits as English", it is the establishment's PC way of referring all those that happen to be born in England as Brits, whereas they are quite happy to call those who were born in Scotland as Scottish, those born in Wales as Welsh, and those born in Nothern Ireland as Irish.

21 CHILDREN KIDNAPPED IN REGION OVER TWO YEARS
Today's news comes as figures obtained under a Freedom of Information Act request made to Thames Valley Police resurfaced.
Charity Action Against Abduction said nine children were abducted by people other than their parents in the policing area in 2014 and 2015.
There were a further 12 kidnaps in the region.

Complete tosh ! We have no idea what nationality the men were who attempted to abduct the boy......we only know they probably didn't speak English, and that they were probably not British.
"English" is not a PC way to describe people born in England as Brits. PC has nothing whatsoever to do with it........what the boy seems to have meant is that the men were foreign.
The issue with these recent, very rare cases of child abduction is exactly that....child abduction, not race, and you were the first person to mention race.

Eccles, the link above has been updated since the thread began - the original article also mentioned this case.
