Mamyalynne, all the more reason to post it, in my opinion. High time we stopped kowtowing to this petulant nonsense. Everyone's treading on eggshells for fear of upsetting anyone else - and everything, it seems, upsets someone.

Perlease!
Groan!!
AOG - //Will this now make white soldiers more conspicuous to the enemy? //

Putting on camouflage make-up in a war zone is a necessary and in fact essential aspect of preserving safety for front line soldiers.

But that is not what this is.

This was a soldier mocking up a black face, and then his image being posted to infer that it's 'humorous'.

Clearly it's not.

Your second image shows a soldier camouflaged to blend in with the background of the terrain in which he is operating - I fail to see any connection to the 'PC Briagde'.
If they don't put any on is that racist as well?
Probably unwise to tweet, but pretty much a storm in a teacup.
To quote from your first link - 'Bizarre'.
2 entirely different photos showing to different scenarios - first one is showing up the British Army the other isn't.

It's quite funny: not the tweet, but the fact that someone thought it would "work". Reminds me of that Father Ted episode where he gets caught in unintentionally racially incriminating situations!

Please explain further, it's all foreign to me.
i thought that face camo in the jungle was shades of green and brown?
///Please explain further, it's all foreign to me///
Then why post a comment in the first place?
No.
Woofgang, unless things have changed since my service days jungle camouflage consisted of brown, green and black striped faces.
Face camouflage should be suited to the surroundings, so unless the soldier in the comic photo that sent the Tweeters into apoplexy was going down the coal hole, it was purely done for effect.

The second photo you showed blends well with the surroundings he's in.

Hope that is now a little less 'foreign'.
Thank you Mamalynne
yup so that fool soldier was fooling around and deserves to be treated as such
Agreed
I'd be more outraged if this was a white American Policeman tbh.
Perhaps what the tweet should have said was - 'Being a soldier in the jungle requires a robust sense of humour.

But this being the British army, we have no sense of humour whatsoever.

But we think we have, which is even more tragic.

And here is a picture that perfectly endorses that statement.'
